Michael Jackson Dead

If it's any consolation I had to sit through 2 hours of Michael Jackson music this afternoon.

Dude you don't have to like him or his music. Everyone has the right to their own opinions and tastes.

But this thread was created by people who I presume do feel a little shocked/saddened at his demise and wish to remember the good things he did, as opposed to his other indiscretions (I only say indiscretions because, at the end of the day, rightfully or wrongly, he was not convicted of anything).

I still cannot believe it, personally. I still hold him in the highest respect musically - I think he was an elite talent the likes of which we'll probably never see again.

I'm pretty astounded that there are people out there who actually rate the likes of "Earth Song" and "Heal the World". The image of Tonearm singing along to Earth Song is hilarious.

ftr I'm a lifelong MJ devotee, certainly not a hater, but he put out a lot of pap post-Thriller.

Bad and Dangerous had some great songs imo.

Following his death there have been plenty of people out there willing to vilify Michael Jackson for the weird and potentially nefarious aspects of his life. Perhaps they do so rightly or perhaps not.

The thing is in 10 or 20 years from now the guys music will still be getting played, while those villifying him will have long since dissapeared. And for that reason alone he'll be remembered for what he should be remembered for his unequalled talent as a musician/performer.
