Kenny Edwards will be the go to man for the second off load....sweet pass to Sandow for the first try , pass back across the ruck to Semi for the second

Edwards threw an awesome cut out at the line for one of Toutai's tries in round one.

I dunno I feel he is more of a middle-left half. Ma'u is our right-right half while Edwards is our left-left half being the link between the right and left halves and the extreme-right and extreme-left halves. Hayne would be our back-half.

Peni is an awesome player, I never said he wasn't. Just worried in an attacking position he lacks the basic skills to get the ball to the right person. Same can be said of other forwards.

The fact that you're worrying about this is a good sign, pretty much ALL our forward pack for the past few years has been unable to do such a thing. If we're only worried about one player not being able to shift the ball on, then that's not a bad thing.

you are actually insane.

Look lock has always been known as the 5-8 for the forwards they traditionally participated in backline moves as a ball player. Remember guys like Barrett, Fittler, Wagon and Carroll all spend time as locks and 5-8s and players like Luke Ricketson who were very good non-bally playing locks struggled to get any game time in rep footy (Luke actually attributed his lack of ball playing for his inability to regularly crack rep footy).

So the idea is not new to rugby league but ball playing backrowers normally play wider (i.e SBW, Stewart, Graham, Anasta when he played as a lock) because this reduces their defensive work load and they essentially play as a second 5-8 with the halfback playing through the middle. Paulo has did a great job verse brisbane in that he ran the ball like a middle forward should, he defended well and then he passes at the line and mixed it up (sometimes short, sometimes behind the man) and this is why we were so dangerous coming out of our own half. Also he did very well not to get involved to late in the tackle count and allowed the halves to create.

this whole thread is a lie .... paulo isn't any kind of middle half - Authurz's just told him a story about being the "forwards" link to stop him crabbing around the field and looking to pass to everyone on the left and right

I don't know what BA told Seffa to do but I do know he likes what he is doing.

I know. Cause I was being totally serious. :sarcasm:

Don't post here any more. f**king dullard.

 You are one to talk Pou. Especially when everyone thinks you're a dumbass.
But keep thinking you are a revolutionary coming up with all these new position names. I mean oh-my-god, Cherry-Evans is playing central back rower but is also ball-playing? Must be that 'new' concept of a middle half I just made up!

Oh I forgot hooker should be called our front-half now. Dummy-half is too outdated. He isn't a mannequin.

Try not to be so offended buddy. You're only hurting yourself.

And when you start contributing something beyond whinging or taking the piss, then your opinion might matter, but right now you're still a know-nothing. So even if I know f**k all, I still know more than you.

Paulo: Off-field Bond Shows On-field

Dyldam Parramatta Eels forward and utility Joseph Paulo has played all over the park for the Blue and Gold since arriving at the club, but he says his bond with the club’s back rowers is the key to making a success of his latest role as lock.
So he is playing lock after all...

Wearing the number 13 for the past three rounds, Paulo says head Coach Brad Arthur has given him a clear mission on game day.
“Brad’s really wanted me to be a link man to the halves on the edges,” Paulo said.
If that's what the lock does, what are the number 13s at every other team doing?

Burgess
Finucane
Smith
Gillett
Stewart
Sims
Merrin
Mannering
Heighington
Guerra
Fensom
Hinchcliffe
Blair
Docker
Harrison

All locking scrums and playing as a link to the halves on the edges. Just like Parramatta lock forward Joseph Paulo. Pricey would be proud.

“For me it’s about getting the forwards going and trying to allow some shape in the middle for us to provide for the backs, with the likes of Hops and Haynsey [in our side].”

So he also links the forwards and he's in the middle to provide for Hops and haynsey.

Sounds like a half to me not a standing hooker

poo, you reallly need to get away from players playing a role because of the number on their backs.

Most attacking scrums the 9 plays at the back of the scrum.
most defensive scrums the 1 plays at the back.

locking the scrum went out when the pushing stopped
