Mighty pennies v the tigpies

Regarding the game overall, only Fish can hold his head up high. The rest were somewhere between very average and bad.

It also proves in my mind that this team is going well due to the power of it's stacked roster - not it's coaching or systems.

A depleted Storm and Roosters are still capable of crushing bottom 6 teams and competently taking on any team that isn't top tier.

We are not.

I was clearly wrong about May - I don't want to see him at 7 again and to be honest only at 6 besides a dominant half if injury or suspension occurs. He is simply too large and slow for the position and that coupled with almost zero kicking game means he is no real threat - the defence can simply stand off him.

Crichton - big $$$ small impact. Not sure why he always insists of palming down a single defender from a near standing start when other defenders are there to wrap him up anyway. Just leads to little metres gained and a slow PTB.

Momorovski - a good stand in centre but I honestly don't want him to be anything other than a short term fix.

Kikau - needs to fix his ball security. Is losing the ball regularly 1-2 times a game, along with other problems such as defensive lapses.

Hopgood, Sorensen - both look good off the bench play with our dominant pack. Both ordinary tonight along with L.Smith and Eisenplod. They don't hold a candle to either Liam Martin or Capewell.

Edwards - stop trying to be a play maker - You suck at it. Anyone who thinks he is a top 8 or even top 10 Fullback needs to look at this game.

Burton - looked like our most dangerous player but clearly training and playing in the centres has left his halves skills rusty. His kicking game got more ragged as the game went on. In the last 20 or so - it turned into Diabolical. A night to forget for him. This game would give nightmares to Trent Barrett and Diehard Doggies fans.
Hahaha, unreal from @The Realist .

We need to start in the pack. We had little go forward- Leniu is not up to the hype, Eisenhuth was well-controlled & our edges were ineffective on the end of slow ball.

& Edwards looked like he came back a week early from his hamstring injury.

Really we just saw the result of replacing half the team with part-timers. The guys coming in haven't played enough NRL minutes so we lacked cohesion & rhythm. Guys like Sorensen, May, Momo & Leniu are reserve-graders - yet we started them all last night. And our bench was as inexperienced as it gets.

I remember watching the baby Broncos years ago - they'd regularly get their arses smacked. We got ours smacked last night. But it will be forgotten come September/October...

Tigers just too good in the end. Their better players stood up and ours didn’t. Definitely not the end of the world. The whole ‘storm and roosters would’ve won’ was going to get trotted out regardless of when our first loss was.

Burton needs to be 7, Salmon 6 & I’d probably play May at 13. Need another ball player and May can still be effective in that role. Leniu and Huth off the bench.

Relax. All of these players have been part of a team that won its first 12 games and has played some exhilarating football; including just two weeks ago when they made a game against one of the other top four sides in the competition look like a training run.

It sucks to lose, but it happens to all teams around origin time. And yes the Roosters and the Storm have won games in the past during this period with many out, but this is the first time the club has had to deal with it ever. But despite that it wasn’t a diabolical game; yes we were second best but if the bounce of the ball goes our way a few times in the first 20 mins of the second half we could have got some momentum and pinched it.

Let's not downplay it. Some of our more experienced players were diabolical. People have been trying to say all year May sucks and been shot down. The guy isn't first grade standard.

Bad luck guys, thought your boys put in but obviously lacked a bit of polish with so many new combos. Very frustrating stop/start game, don’t think anyone enjoyed that aspect of it.

Just a question, what position does that Hopgood play? Saw that lovely video on his debut so was watching him tonight. He was smaller then I thought (also first time I’ve seen him in the flesh but Crichton is fcking massive, I had no idea how big this dude actually was) and kinda just looked to be running around? Not sure where he fits into a team.

If someone could tell Crichton that it'd be appreciated. The guy is a physical specimen playing like he's scared of contact. Congrats on the win, hope it helps build momentum to make the 8.

"May is the best utility in our club." Why move him?

Just a lack of cohesion from guys not used to the combinations, they are all the better for it next time

This was my opinion of game.

Penrith looked clueless in attack.
JFH kept the scoreline close
Burton doesn't look as good as your other halves. His kicks most the time where average at best.
Kenny had a solid game.
Nobody is beating any NRL side minus their best 8 players.

The good thing is you get to see how some guys look great in a great side. But take them out and tbis is how they perform.

Yeah, I just don't see it.
TV ratings drop for the regular games, they would remain high for Origin.
I certainly watch heaps less footy over the next couple of months.
Sorry, i meant Origin TV ratings. Ch9 don't want postseason Origin again.
Everyone watches much less footy the next few months, regardless of SOO. This part of the year is for the diehards &/or gamblers - the excitement of the new season has worn off, finals are too far away. It's the reason midseason SOO was introduced in the 1st place - to give some level of rugby league relevance to broadcasters while we're all waiting for the finals to start.

Nobody has ever successfully managed to explain to me why our competition needs to be destroyed each year for state of origin.
The comp turns into a joke for the next few months, weak teams and tired players.
Everyone knows "wins" are tainted and "losses" are considered acceptable.
I can't stand all the "evens the competition up" banter that goes on as well.
Seriously just make the games stand alone and be done with it.
TV money. Wed rate best of them all

While we played terrible we weren't that far off. That is with a very young side

Look at their tries

1st try was a poor read by Sorensen and May
2nd the 90m kick return
Penalty try
Then just tired at the end

We bombed a few too.

We should of given those halves a run together in NSW Cup last week. Then they wouldn't of been so horriblr
