Mighty pennies v the tigpies

To be perfectly honest, I truly value the JJ Giltinan Sheild over the Provan-Summons Trophy. 16 teams attack it on equal footing and over 25 rounds the winner is the most deserved.
It proves you were the best prepared side throughout the off season and most successful side throughout the 6 & 1/2 month weekly slog that is the NRL premiership round competition. You managed any mini crisis’s that present such as key injuries and suspensions as well as losing personnel due to rep footy. You best kept the attitude and drive of the squad pointing in the right direction and you minimised dramas in your squad’s personal lives bleeding into their work. It is severely hard to win it and just as severely under appreciated. The prize money and standing within the game is insufficient.

In contrast, 8 teams get a crack at the Provan-Summons and not necessarily the best side over the 4 week period collects it. Usually, good sides are eliminated by your rivals, providing an easier path. If you make the 8, hit decent form and have some luck, you can take the trophy and at worst it’ll be a 4 game investment.

So, no I don’t agree with your assessment. I would vastly prefer the JJ Giltinan.
To make it more attractive you could introduce some kind of meritorious cap relief for winning the jj for the next year. Maybe $1m.

But I prefer the theatre and cheap tinsel carry-on of the finals.

Just a pity the storm arrived in our era and has killed off much interest in the product. News Ltd and corporate thieves win again! Wave your old school tie. Not even the convicted rapist Hayne sits through it

Id rather see Constantinople win it. Perhaps the rip off merchant Elias can move us over there?!

The Byzantine bunyips.

I couldn't be bothered. Oh, and on another note. the way that your supporters carried on at the game was unacceptable. The level of personal abuse, which was directed at Ivan, and Nathan, is wrong. You guys really need to get over the fact that Ivan left, and there was no way in hell that Nathan was ever, ever, going to your club.
Sorry but we just don't like Liars

This is getting rather boring now. So they beat our hugely understrengthened side; let them have their 5 minutes of glory, congratulations Tigers you won. We all know the real value of both teams....let's just put it all in prospective. Onwards and upwards Panthers.

Hey in 2005 we were exactly in the same position, and do you remember what happened

Imagine being so pathetic that beating a reserve grade side in June is the highlight of a season
Thats right we beat a Reserve grade side, which was exactly what we did, that contained a bunch of reserve graders like Fisher Harris, Edwards, Staines, Crichton, Burton. Lenui, May, Kikau, Eisenhuth, not really a worthy opponent.

The Silverdale circus seems to have run through it's cycle. It starts with good humoured chat, some banter, gradually building to the irrational abuse. He's just started the "playing the victim" phase now, so that should be about it. I'm glad I resisted the urge to engage with the poor fool.
Sounds like their supporters play like team, give up . Too easy

If people are this excited when Panthers lose despite half their side being out. Imagine how excited they will get when our NRL team actually loses rather than our reserve grade one.

It's ridiculous. Literally every team is sitting below us and somehow thinks anything less than a 100% win rate under any circumstances is a failure.

I am glad we lost a match where half our players were missing rather than at full strength. Resets the streak and helps reignite the fire.

Happy to get a couple losses out the way now and to refocus on winning everything after the Origin series is done
Your right, the team that you dished out were a bunch of reserve graders, and the Tigers treated them like a Reserve grade side, and beat you soundly. The referee even tried to even it up a bit, by giving you Five six again calls in the second half, and you managed to score a try against us, well done. Good luck to you next time we play you, hope you can field a better side. Also, I hope your feeling the same way when you play the Roosters reserves in 2 weeks time.

For all of the cocky Tigers supporters on here. This is for you, and this will be the last.

James Hooper reporting that Tigers Supporters were throwing BEER CANS at the game. I haven't seen beer in anything but plastic for sale at the footy for more than 10 years. The Tigers need to do an immediate review of security, player and spectator safety and either the sale of beer cans or the checking of bags etc before entry to the ground. Totally unacceptable!

Was at the game on the hill, saw some shoeys but no beer cans were thrown.

Unless it was the more civil supporters sitting underneath Ivan's box.
