Wests Tigers statement:

"Wests Tigers have today released half-back Jacob Miller.

Miller will join Hull FC in the English Super League on a two-and-a-half year deal once his visa is cleared."

Jesus christ we are a merkin of a club

You know, we finally get a new coach after years of Sheens BS.....he declares in Feb we are going to play a REAL halfback in the number seven, everyone cheers and says ''thank christ - at long last!"

Until round five........

Only at WT - release the only senior halfback at the club on the same day they name two back rowers in the halves to play the top team in the comp.

One and only reason Miller is gone
bubblesunlimited, your comments are usually straight to the point, is that true? is it the one and only reason because I remember you saying something about thinks he's Man U but more like Apia and I thought that might have come from within the club/team.

Anyway when will Brooks get his chance? I like the idea of playing him in NSW Cup again this week.

Last weeks wrap V Knights mentioned Brooks twice,
Midway through the opening stanza boom Wests colt Luke Brooks chipped, regathered and darted downfield. The cover rounded him up yet a quick play the ball saw a swift spread right
&
Other Tigers to shine included: Luke Brooks who schemed manfully on the left, Ava Seumanufagai at prop, and Joel Luani who shifted from lock to hooker at the eleventh hour

2 games before that he got a mention,
All eyes were on the halves pairing for the Wests Tigers, with Under 20’s star Luke Brooks taking the field in his first NSW Cup game alongside Jacob Miller
In what looked to be the equaliser, Brooks put a perfectly weighted cross-field kick into the hands of Miller who claimed a try only to be called back for offside.
It wasn’t long before Brooks was at it again though, this time giving a textbook short ball to a barnstorming Jarrod Farlow who ran 20 metres to score

It will be interesting to see when he does get a run,
inside Benji with Siro missing out?
inside Benji with Siro moving to centre, Reddy to wing and Utai missing out?
inside Siro with Benji still on the bench?
on the bench and getting a small cameo with Benji and Anasta as the pairing?

Brooks will now get his chance. One and only reason Miller is gone.
A couple on a Facebook forum whose son plays with Brooks reckon he is nowhere near ready for first grade. Letting Miller go is stupidity if they are right and Brooks is still a couple of years off at best.

Still reckon Brooks will get some 18 months development. Anasta will be back in the 7 when fit. Brooks will probably be the fill in when Anasta unavailable. Anasta is with WT until end of 2014.

It will be a waste of money but I assume the contract that Anasta (and Pat Richards) signed, did not say that he has to play 1st grade? I think next year he (they) might see plenty of time in the NSW Cup, assuming Brooks and then Moses develop into the 1st graders everyone says/thinks they will.

Old time, Brooks will get his chance, our season is as good as over, you can blood a young kid with no pressure or expectation.

I reckon Miller left because he didn't have the patience to wait around to find out if he was FG material.

Coach thought he needed more time in NSW Cup

ESL offer him huge money to play in ESL FG (which is no where near the level of FG NRL).

Miller sees all this talk of Brooks.

Miller makes obvious choice to not wait around and blood himself on huge money in the ESL rather than NSW Cup.

Realistically, we are a sham of a club (another club would have given Miller 10-12 games to find his feet in 1st grade). The kid had a heap of potential.

I can't see Brooks and Moses ready for the NRL before 2015. They will be like lambs to the slaughter if they are promoted this year.

We are likely to have the mercy rule applied tonight.

As poor as miller was, he was a halfback. Something which we currently do not have. I am not upset at him being dropped, but when anasta went down, miller should never have been released but given another shot. How can you go into a first grade game without a halfback?

I think Benji showed again that he can slot into the 6 or 7 with no problems. I also think that game showed where our problems are and it is simply getting players that can get rid of the mistakes in their games mostly missed tackles.

C'mon Tiger, Benji was crap tonite whether he was a 6 or 7, unforced errors and missed tackles - Miller could not have been worse if he was given a fair go.

I'm afraid it is time for a new 6 and 7; unfortunately, they are not at the club at the moment or will not (Brooks, Moses) be ready until 2015.

f**k me, if I were Brooks, I'd be taking the first half-decent deal on offer and not getting my fingerprints on this train wreck.

Have to also say that as hard as Siro tries he has not shown me a single thing to suggest he is a future star, i wouldnt be wasting any salary cap to sign him for the future.

Will go much better at lock......like a Wade Graham. Still only 19 or so playing with a shit half and beaten pack every week. Im trusting in Bob Fulton and trying to keep an open mind with him.......but geez he isnt showing ANYTHING to suggest he has talent.

Played City rep this year

I thought he was really good. One error which was that crappy kick at the end of the game. Fulton was our best player but Benji was 2nd.

I think the first 20 odd minutes showed why Benji isn't the problem at all.

I agree Benji is not the only problem, but he is one.

I truly believe that the lack of a decent reserve grade comp is one of the issues - when your 1st grade team has numerous injuries (the whole backline and numerous forwards) and they are replaced by kids who are about 2-3 years away from 1st grade standard.

This could happen to any club and it is vital that a reverse grade comp is re-established to run in conjunction with 1st grade; even if the U20s goes back to a junior representative comp (Flegg) run at the same time as the Matt and Ball - or create a U23s in replace of the NSW Cup.

These current kids have been promoted to the NRL way too quickly due to the lack of a decent reserve grade; there is a grand canyon difference between NYC, NSW and Qld Cup and the NRL.
