Siro looks like a hole running centre to me at this stage - I dont see much creativity in him.

That is how i see it too,we have plenty of young halves, and benji,I think Sirro needs to be moved.

That's all siro is.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. If his old man wasn't so big, he would've been a centre in his day. He knew how to hit gaps.

Curtis is pretty much the same. Play him at Lock or Centre

I see more creativity in Sirro jnr than Miller so far but to be fair I haven't seen much in either of them to suggest they will kill it in the top grade. I'm not sure why but I feel Sirro might come on like Tedesco has.

Tedesco didn't look great on the wing, he dropped some high balls and seemed to me to be lacking a bit of pace. He has turned it around and I think we have a long term fullback that will go great for us. I think he has been the best out of the young players coming through including Koro.

Young Sirro appears to have very good ball skills, however his reluctance to run the ball makes it easier for the opposition to mark him,the sooner he uses his size to his advantage the better he will be.

Sironen isn't a hack. I think his reluctance to run is a minor mental thing he'll overcome, brought on by his injury last year.

I think Kieran Foran is a hack too with limited skills and Josh Reynolds no better.......so what would i know.

Foran is a very good player but I'm with you on Josh Reynolds. I think he's the most overrated player in the game. He is a grub with very limited skill set, no kicking game and his defense is very poor. This seems to be masked by the fact he occasionally comes up with a big hit and appears to be very aggressive, but he is a very ineffective defender overall. I specifically remember Lawrence steamrolling him on multiple occasions last year.

I reckon that we may as well use what we have until end of next season when Brooks can be given the opportunity to take over in 2015. Basically use Anasta at 1/2 and Marshall at 5/8 with their understudies being Brooks and Sironen covering for unavailabilities eg injury.

I would be getting Anasta to kick more and pulling Benji back into a more structured, less free ranging role.

2015 could be a pivotal season with that being Marshall's last season (at the moment). Brooks and Sironen still need / would benefit from further development. Anasta's contract ends after 2014 and I don't think he will be extended.

I don't think there is any great 1/2 talent available at present available on the current player market and a speculation contract to someone like Chisholm would depend greatly on his wanting to comeback to WT after his prior experience here under Teflon.

The rumoured signings thread says we have signed Eddie Paea. Sounds like he might be the new emergency half.

He might have a good passing game but I tend to agree that he would be better spent as a big line running centre. Put someone like Koro or Lawrence outside him and let his size and running draw in defenders and use his ball skills to put his winger down the sideline or play an outside-inside ball to someone like Teddy or BMM.

The other problem with Siro is I have not seen much of a kicking game from him, which I think is really what the Tigers are missing in a half. Benji has never had a consistent long kicking game which leads to the inevitable shank out on the full or bomb that goes backwards or down the fullback's throat and completely stuffs our momentum. Benji's attacking kicking game consists of basically grubber kicking which leads to Farah getting into first receiver in order to put up any cross field kicks for our guys to contest; effectively taking away the option and threat of any dummy-half plays. I hope that Brooks can come along with that kicking game and get Benji back to just running the ball. In the interim I would be giving Miller a go with the current injuries and when Anasta is back get him to take on most of the kicking duties.

Exactly. I said long ago to remove Benji from goal kicking and give anasta or farah the 5 th tackle option.
Benji should be chasing those if he supposed to be one of our fastest and slippery. Lazy prick.
As for sirro, watch his debut again. Watch that if you forget what he is capable of.
Not easy to shine is a team with Benji and Farah, if your a half. One has the ball before you get it or one calling for it once you get it.
Tough gig.
Move sirro to the centres if you want some value or he is f**ked. Gone.

Can anybody seriously say that Miller wouldn't be a better option than Sironen. He's not a natural half. His ball skills are minimal and he only looks at ease when taking hit ups. Maybe in time Sironen will develop into a good back rower or centre, but he has no future as a halfback. That begs the question why Potter has persisted with him for so long when he was so quick to discard Miller. The fact Sironen's old man is on the board gives rise to suspicions if nepotism. A valid criticism of Miller was that he didn't get involved enough, but not was he given the chance to shine. Now that Marshall has officially given up,as demonstrated by his performance last night, whoever plays halfback might finally be able to assert himself. If Miller's fate overseas hasn't yet been decided why not give him another crack at halfback? What's the worse than can happen? We're heading for the spoon so we may as well experiment with a few players along the way.

The problem is Benji hogs the ball and gives the other half poor service.

Brooks could be the next immortal, but him in at halfback next to benji, and he'll go to shit like many young halves have before here.

How our halves have starved next to Benji this year

Round 1 - Miller 20 touches, Benji 28 touches
Round 2 - Miller 23 touches, Benji 56 touches
Round 3 - Miller 34 touches, Benji 37 touches
Round 4 - Miller 27 touches, Benji 43 touches
Round 5 - Anasta 28 touches, Benji 46 touches
Round 8 - Sironen 24 touches, Benji 38 touches
Round 9 - Sironen 41 touches, Benji 45 touches - purely because Benji was starved of the ball in the second half. At halftime, Benji had 30 touches to Sironen's 16 (Woods had 14 touches at half time)

Ok Miller is not a world beater but he is a 1/2 ,so we let him go because we can replace him with a fill in half and free up salary cap space. When all is said and done we should be f*****g off the likes of Blair and every other in effective liability that exist within our club,as results are not going to change with them.

Problem is that it isn't that easy.

I share your concern but I think Brooks is a bit different. Anyone who has seen him play has very high opinions, much more so than any other player including Miller.

Ask Andrew Johns what he thinks of Brooks.
Ask Shines what he thought of Johnny Cronk
Opinions.....
