I agree Benji is not the only problem, but he is one.

I truly believe that the lack of a decent reserve grade comp is one of the issues - when your 1st grade team has numerous injuries (the whole backline and numerous forwards) and they are replaced by kids who are about 2-3 years away from 1st grade standard.

This could happen to any club and it is vital that a reverse grade comp is re-established to run in conjunction with 1st grade; even if the U20s goes back to a junior representative comp (Flegg) run at the same time as the Matt and Ball - or create a U23s in replace of the NSW Cup.

These current kids have been promoted to the NRL way too quickly due to the lack of a decent reserve grade; there is a grand canyon difference between NYC, NSW and Qld Cup and the NRL.

Great points about the reserve grade comp. NYC is basically jersey Flegg, I can't tell you how many players looked good in Flegg that I both played with and watched who just couldn't cut it in first grade. Then again, some players went unnoticed in the 20's but developed in reserve grade to go onto the nrl. From a successful 20's team, you would be happy if 3 of them made a career out of it. We would probably have 8 in first grade at the moment.

One he finishes as Leichhardt, Potter should be on the telephone immediately arranging for Todd Payten and Matt Head to be his assistant coaches.

Brooks had a great game today and looks more than tough enough to make the step up to NRL. Id rather them wait til next year but this kid is special and i believe he can handle it.

Sorry, but I disagree. Young Brooks should go nowhere near the NRL side this year unless they wish to destroy another possible prospect.

Who else has been 'destroyed'?
No-one has been destroyed by early promotions ffs.

Ok, maybe destroyed is too strong a word; but the confidence of many of them have undoubtly suffered big time plus many outsiders (coaches, fans etc) are now questioning whether they are up to NRL standard - due to their early promotion.

PS: I'm not blaming or having a go at these kids.

Didnt do Matt Groat much good...

Bit too early to judge. Might be the best thing to ever happen for him and make him bounce back a better player. Will find out in a year or two. Take his head knock into account and injuries this year.... See how he goes next year.

Oh, theyre just watching Brooks...
No one else huh?

Jeez Ink,sorry for my less than accurate post, I am not here to win a Pulitzer Prize mate.

Of course they were watching others, but concentrating on our future 7 and working out just when in the future to give him his shot.

Unless you are happy with a 6'3, 103 kilo halfback and a back rower at five eighth.

Our season is virtually shot, may as well give him a crack.

You seem infatuated with him.

I dunno if he's ready or not.....I doubt anyone else on this forum knows either.

Would you risk a bloke thats not ready because our season is gone.....he wont make a difference to this season.

This season is irrelevant

If he's up to it possibly blood him with a view to the future, maybe when we get some senior blokes back.....to many rookies now as it is
