Surprised his missus didn't do all the talking at the press conference.

Happy he got to go on his terms. Great career even with his injuries.

Prior to his run with injury he was the best fullback in the game he had never been injured he would be retiring as the best fullback the game has ever seen and smashed plenty of the milestones he's possibly going to hit anyway.

Injury robbed him of possibly his best years. He was also never the same player after finally putting injuries behind him. He still had an outstanding career and was a Damn fine player after injury. But the fact people question him at his best just shows how much the injury hurt him. Anyone who remembers him at his prime wouldn't be asking if he would be top 4. They would be asking if Slater, Stewart or Hayne etc. at their prime were as good as Mini.

Thank f**k for that.

One of the best fullbacks in the last 20 yrs. Last few yrs have clouded his greatness.

Yeah, last year really clouded his greatness....winning the premiership and all that.

Every player deals with injuries. If he was the best he would have found that form again. Stewart, Slater etc have all dealt with various injuries over time and overcome them

Hard not admire this bloke, the one player who threatened Lockyer in his prime as the best fullback of his generation. I hope the NRL keeps him around in some capacity.

Any of the trivia masters know if he has the longest stretch between premiership wins?

Well for one Slater, Stewart etc. never had the same amount as injuries as Mini and Stewart only had one that was as severe as it, Slater has had nil.

It's not as if Mini didn't overcome them anyway, he's still in the top ten fullbacks in the game and is 34. Most players would love to perform as well as Mini at 34 let-alone all his injuries.

Neither slater or Stewart have had half of their spine fused together. Story goes that he was training when his back injury scans came through and the staff had to rush onto the park as it was so serious and possibly life threatening. To come back from that is not like coming back from a knee injury.

Aside from his GF wins, the moments I remember him for most are his kick returns in Origin between 2003-2005. He f**king slayed QLD with those unstoppable runs.

It was truly a sight to behold.

I hope everyone realises how hard it's been for him to tough it out after coming back.
Fully aware he could never reach the great heights he achieved earlier in his career.
Slater is going through the same thing now.
