We'll wait and see about Brown before you blow your load over him. Unproven is what he is. Willie Peters was a junior star as well but never delivered at NRL level.

Ofcourse he's unproven, he hasn't even played First-Grade yet...

What he is proven at, is carving up the lower grades; and the manner inwhich he did it is a sign of things to come; all at age 15-16...

Johns Magic said:
"Joel Caine has been carving up in Premier League". So has Nathan Merrit. Here's some news for ya: He's in Premier League for a reason.

Caine is in Premier League because of a certain Brett Hodgson... heard of him?...LOL

Idiot.

Albert never won us a premiership. That was Johns. Donald Trump could have scored that try in '97, all he would've had to do was run 10 metres and fall over the line.
In any case, if you're logic for buying Albert is so he can bring you a first premiership as well, it aint gonna happen.

Here we go...

Who scored the try? Who came in when he needed to? Who had the pace to get there? Who had the footwork to swerve between defenders to score the try?

Here's a clue, It wasn't Johns...

Johns Magic said:
Again, Lovegrove is unproven. Come back to me when he's done something at NRL level.

A bit hard to do something when you haven't been given the opportunity yet, ay?... Fool.

Johns Magic said:
Darren Crap has nothing. You wonder why you got him dirt cheap too.

It was a tossup between him and Hutch Maiava... I chose Darren due to his versatility...

I also could've opted for Reece Williams, or Phillip Leuluai... but I thought we had enough back-rowers...

Nevertheless, they are all, and i repeat ALL, better than Reynoldson... LOL!

Johns Magic said:
I don't know how loosely you use the term "star" but I can assure you Pomeroy is not one. He's 22 at the start of next season and has only ever played 2 first grade games. A real standout...

He's a late bloomer, so what?... You cannot talk about age when your props aggregate almost 100 years between them... LOL!!

Johns Magic said:
Please tell me who the current NZ hooker is? In fact, name me one specialist hooker NZ has besides Latu. I'd like to see a Warriors fan comment on Latu. He's not all that.

Latu has rare dummy-half speed that Buderus could only dream of... and I don't care how many "specialist" hookers NZ has... Point is: he's theirs...

And I would like to see a Warriors fan comment too. I'm sure he'd be dissapointed at the loss of Latu...

Johns Magic said:
No, not even your outstanding use of emotive language and poetic terms could hide the fact that they are in fact Neville Nobodies. "Star", lol.

...You go on calling us "Neville Nobodies"... Who the f**k are Brown, Tighe, White etc. etc. LOL!

I'll help you out on Latu from a Warriors fan's perspective. He's got plenty of natural talent, is pretty quick out of dummy half but his temperament seems to let him down big time, too many errors and bad discipline. He couldn't crack the Warriors 17 for most of last season let alone the Kiwis, at the Warriors I'd put Hohaia, Anderson and Fein all ahead of him as hookers. We weren't too concerned when his move to the Sharks was announced.

Thats a pretty stupid thing to say because we're going to go back and forth saying Clints better, then Gallens better. Both Knights and Sharks fans will back up their player, so its a waste of discussion.
Not really... Gallen is a better player I don't think it is really open to debate. Newton is a good player who tries hard but Gallen has in the last two seasons played centre, 5/8, lock, 2nd row, hooker and prop... Gallen offers more stat wise and depth wise. Gallen was recorded as the 2nd fastest forward in the NRL behind Craig Wing last season also. Newton is good but he isn't as good as Gallen... I wouldn't consider swapping the two.

Big Mick - If you had a jnr in your club who had just signed for a f**k load at another club(who also just took your rep prop) would you let him play PL to get match fitness? Or would you give a young guy contracted next season a go? Dykes was ready to return around round 22 or so last year at Parra but they kept him on the sidelines - didn't even play him in PL... Pom will be fine - hopefully he gets a run in the backrow and not centres for us.

Special K, I appreciate that ur going to say that Gallen is a better player than Clint because ur a Sharks fan. Ur always going to say that and u wont change ur mind. Same with me, I'll say that Clint is better than Gallen. Its a complete waste of time even discussing the two. The only way we are probably going to find out who is better is by asking other teams fans who they would prefer.

Can you not read? Not every junior star makes it in the big time. In fact only a small percentage do.

Um...tell me why he didn't play on the wing when they had no options there at the start of the season? They had to shunt a 5/8 on the wing. If Caine was that damn good why wasn't he Richards' replacement for the Grand Final?

Idiot.

He scored the try and came in when he needed to because Johns told him to. Mark Tookey had the pace to get there ffs. Footwork? It was open bloody pasture!

Darren Mapp better than Reynoldson? Please! Tell another one. Reynoldson was mentioned in rep circles before he got injured for a reason.
Mapp was mentioned in QRL circles for a reason.

White won't make our team you idiot.

Brown has played 7 first grade games already and is just 20 years old. Had it not been for a leg injury he would've played upwards of 20 matches this season. He played in plenty of junior rep teams and has shown he has what it takes at the top level in his performances to date.

Tighe made every rep team imaginable as a junior, and was our top tryscorer this year with 12 tries in 20 matches. He really stood out towards the end, where he scored 8 tries in the last 8 matches. He has been mentioned in the media as a great prospect for the Knights, and avid league fans know what he can do with the ball in hand. Then again, I wouldn't expect you to know him, even though he did start the 44-14 slogging of your team in Round 25 with the first try of the match.

Did I say he would?

I merely stated that considering his tender age of only 16, and the way he's been carving up Flegg opponents, that all the signs are pointing towards a long and successful first-grade career... at the back for Cronulla...

It is you who cannot read, or decipher things adequately...

Benji defends on the wing because Sheens sees his defensive deficiencies; in much the similar way Preston Campbell defended on the wing for us under Lang in '01... This is nothing new, except maybe to you...

BTW would you play a lower-grades player who wasn't going to be with you next year in a GF?... I don't thinks so...

Besides we haven't even signed him yet... there are only rumours since his younger brother Tony has been with us in lower grades for a while...

We have other options including Dane Neilson (another Flegg starlet), Bryson Goodwin (same), and Albert Torrens (signed from Dragons)...

All speculation at this stage...

I seem to remember him swerving and slicing between Manly defenders... if you can't, get help...

Reynoldson is pure shyte... He is hairy and typical of the slummy Newcastle demographic... It is no wonder you guys signed him...

Mapp is behind representative players in Webcke, Civoniceva, Parker, Thorn etc. etc. It's little wonder he is in Queensland Cup...

I will wait for further comment. Those 2 are obviously still bitter...

You described him as "truly a star" and implied that he would be a great first grade player.

16? He won't be anywhere near a first grade jersey next year...

I was actually referring to Daniel Fitzhenry, and you missed the point...Stick at it mate ;-)

Just a light bit of exaggeration there. Stepping inside a wrong-footed John Hopoate is not the hardest thing in the world to do.

MrSharky said:

So no comeback? What if this Lovegrove kid isn't good enough for first-grade?

Think what you want of Reynoldson. He's a tolier, like Mapp, but at least he's shown he's up to NRL standard, unlike Mapp.

Truth too hard to handle is it?

He is a star at his level... there's no doubting it...

16 means he'll be 17 next year... age is on his side, and he is closer to first-grade then you might think...

They are of similar age, and have played similar amounts of first-grade games...

Considering the players Mapp is behind, I'd say he's easily better...

Put it this way: If Reynoldson were @ the Broncos, he would never have seen first-grade...

Ever.

I dunno... you tell me.

Opinions on Latu:

Opinions on Pomeroy:

You be the judge... I'd say the respective fans are pretty upset

Brown is 16, and Lovegrove has just turned 17... whereas Brown and Tighe are 21...

That speaks for itself.

hahaha, I can't believe you don't remember who Riley Brown is. Thats a shame because you have to recall that 80m try he scored outpacing Rieck a couple of years back.

Louis Anderson is the current test hooker.

Lance Hohaia will take his place in the #9 guernsy at the beginning of this series, and I would think would interchange with David Faiumu.

Tevita Latu burst onto the scene with a lot of raw speed out of dummy half.

Teams seemed to work him out though, and after a decent season in '04 despite a ruined off season thanks to TB, 2005 was a complete and utter disaster. He was ill disciplined, gave away a load of cheap penalties, and hit one of the most reckless tackles of the season. And to top that off, his dynamics out of dummy half were gone - about the only time he ran was on the last play completely stuffing things up.

you say Melbourne have too much talent to languish when they have a forward pack filled with the most ill-disciplined players in the competition.

I'm gonna go ot on a limb and say that Crocker will improve his game vastly under Bellamy's astute coaching. Bellamy is no fool and right from day one the Storm administration has let Mick know that there is a place in the team and the administration for him...I think if you take Mick away from Stuart and let him have a bit more of a run he'll prosper. That and he has friends around him in Smith, Slater, Walker and King.

Crocker's being talked up as the most significant by the Storm has made since we brought Stephen Kearney over from the Warriors. I think he'll repay the faith that Bellamy and O'Sullivan put in him when they signed him...

But struggling performance wise....making the finals 6 years out of the 8 you've been in the comp (including the last 3 years straight) does not constitute struggling!

For the record but...I think we'll just miss the top 8. I'm predicting 9th or 10th.

We'll make the 8 IF Scotty Hill fires and can remain injury free...same goes for Cronk!

2006 will be like 2005--the salary cap kicking in,you will be able to throw a blanket over the field,Injuries, rep seasons etc will have a bearing or the odd bad call
But i think what you have to look at is depth, that what kills teams like the rabits. It killed the dogs this year, they had to give their depth away after their 2004 gf win,to keep the SBW and the big willie. You also have to look at the average age of the squads.
i dont know who will win,but i think the rorters dogs and bronks will struggle--maybe i have just picked the top three--who knows
