He's coping with a fair bit better than KK has so far IMO too.

I agree.

And on a slightly different matter, I must say that Robson is a better player than most on here give him credit for. His kicking is ordinary for sure but he has a pretty impressive running and passing game. And his defence is very good.

I am not saying he should be our 7, but he is a pretty handy backup and I can't imagine he would be on much.

he was linking real well with Lowrie with some crisp short passes. Cant wait till he strikes up a combo with mateo @ 13

I'll ask this again

Does anyone know why he was only re-signed for 1 year? as his value beyond 2010 continues to rise.

If Tigers were willing to throw $150k at Kelly with no 1st grade experience, what will they offer Mortimer?

Don't be surprised if he gets an offer of $200k per year for 2011 from another club.
We need to extend that deal asap

I am not impressed with you bringing Robson up in a mortimer thread actually,
Sorry but he isnt actually doing what he is there to do,he is supposed to be leading the team around wearing the 7 jersey and that job is way beyond him.He has absolutely no kicking game, has no long passing game and doesnt get his forwards running into holes and has no vision what so ever.He would maybe be a good lock with his defense>>>in reserve grade,if he backed up runners ala Graeme O'grady

I agree,im guessing he wanted to back himself to break through so he only wanted a 1 yr deal?like i said im guessing. We need to extend his deal as you said,i can see him becoming a super star in nrl within 12 months.

I'd like to see us wait a while before bestowing the superstar tag on the kid. He will attract some good offers after his displays of recent weeks. But I'd not get carried away just yet - Chris Sandow, Tim Smith, Mitchell Pearce, Eddie Paea - all recent superstar halfbacks who found the going reasonably tough in their second year.

I wouldn't go that far yet, but Mortimer has definitely exceeded all expectations at this stage of his career, he is however continually targeted in the D and didn't get too much protection from his team mates but his attitude is first class..

I dont think he needs it.

Rewind a week ago and he wasnt shirking the issue and he was holding his own with Sam Thaiday running at him.

Personally, I think he has shown more than Kris Keating has.

Now we are predicting Origin for him?

I like the kid and have a lot of time for him. I think he is a very strong player and could well go far. However to start talking about him being a superstar and talking him up for Origin? Talk about premature ejacualtion.

But that is typical of this forum when we have a junior player doing well.

Just once I'd like to see us wait until these things are acheived. The weight of expectation is huge.

Not yet..... you aren't alone in singing his praises.

I've seen him play from SG Ball and despite playing from the bench he showed some touches of class. I think he can go on and become a regular first grader and with some luck other accolades will flow from there. But I'd like to see him get there first....

The best thing about Morts is his fitness. Not just physically, but his mental fitness is good at the end of games, never loses composure.

Yes this has been said before, but he will have a nice long career in first grade.

Raudonikis, I like your enthusiasm but take it easy mate. Lets just all wait and see. Give him time, to much pressure, way to much pressure. High expectations is a curse and over whelming burden on young shoulders. People constantly slapping him on the back and singing his praises, ain't a good thing for a young and developing kid. Ask Alfie Langer about the demons that he had to fight to keep his head screwed on right, and in the end thank God he had uncle Benny to help him out.
