I hate gettign excitied about younger players now because of the preasure it places on them. But over the last couple of weeks, Morts has shown things that arent just one season wonder things. He is showing real quality stuff.

I just cant get over the way he was directing the team around at the end of the game against Penrith. He also did it against Newcastle. I dont want to mention other names, but he showed attributes of a certain Origin halfback.

I agree with everyone that Mortimer and Kris Keating are our most likely and most promising halves combination for next year and, hopefully, beyond. Mortimer`s got a bit more class than Keating IMO; but they`ll be good together. However, back to the here and now, and I reckon Jeff Robson had a terrific game yesterday. He gave Mortimer lots of clean ball. I think he`s actually making Mortimer`s job a little easier than it might have been. Certainly easier than if Mortimer had to play outside of someone as erratic as Finch. Robson seems to be really enjoying his football lately. I know he`s not our future - but he is our present, and he`s combining with Mortimer and making Mortimer`s transition that much easier. Well done.

I watched the game again last night and was very impressed with Morts. His kicking game is obviously improving every week and I'm loving his pace over 15m. He will develop into a very nice 7.

BTW I'm not sold on KK. He certainly is a tough little competitor, but has done nothing to convince me that he has the passing game necessary to put players in holes. Personally I think we need to be looking for 6 outside the club or maybe TK Amosa down the track.

Instead of talking about fitzy/spagnolo/and the rest of the crap we should be talking about blokes like mortimer/KK and our future,we actually have a great future starting next season. We wont even have blokes like lowrie n robson>How good is that

don't speak to soon, if DA can't find the players he wants he may well offer them 1 year deals...;-)

Robbo has proved to be a solid defender. I'd rather him as a 3rd string half than some rookie speed hump.

well I thought Robo has been doing quite well for himself and he definitely defends better than the likes of Tim Smith, Matt Head and Eddie Paea

Robbo for a bloke on a Pie and Coke deal hasn't done to bad for us, and his defence is great. If only he could improve his kicking game......

I think either him or Kinga will stay and they will be a back up hooker until Anthony Mitchell is phased in..

IMO Kingston would be a good choice, you would have to think we wont need a third half there with KK/Morts cos if either of em gets hurt Mateo can go to 5/8 and at a pinch Kingston could play there as well.Stagger i just dont see a 7 in Robson.

I would say we would need atleast 1 backup half, DA is off the opinion that we need 2...Feleti must be at lock and he should stay there and as much as I'm excited about the prospects of KK and Morts there to put all your eggs in 2 kids with 20 first grade games between them would be insane.

I agree Stagger, I think we have missed Mateo at lock, when he comes back he should be given the chance to stay there, not having to fill in at 5/8 for someone who gets injured.

I forgot to say that I think D. Morts could be the real thing for us, hopefully he will be given all the chances to get there. I have really enjoyed watching him play in first grade he seems to get better each game he plays. Go Daniel.
