Well whether it's true or not it is credible in that SGI has a history of paying average players more than they're worth- eg Hunt and Norman- and we all know why that has happened.
I would like to knw who at SGI decides the price we will pay for a player.. When Bennett was with us it was he who put a price on a player and the CEO, Doust who approved the deal.

Mary asks the Scoreboard Attendant who confers with the St George Junior Canteen ladies who speaks with the Ground Security - they ponder for a while before chatting with the groundsmen who flick it over to the Public Area ticket booth personnel. They then go to the Peanut in a Shell man who finally makes a decision in cahoots with the St George Happy Dragon.

Hope that helps.

So the St George happy dragon is the puppet master pulling all the strings, I knew it!

If he ends up being as good that would be great.
I see Kerr having similar traits to Jason Ryles.
That, to me anyway, would be awesome if he continues that development.
Vaughan and Kerr could be our Bailey and Ryles.
Kerr has enormous potential, and he is starting to show signs that he is realising this.
Vaughan and Kerr will not let us down up front.
Its our front row depth that has me worried.
We have Korbin, Lawrie, and Blacker.
Korbin is better suited at lock, Blacker need to improve 10 fold and show more heart, Lawrie can hold his own, but isnt a damaging front rower.
That will be our issue, our front row depth.
We need 2 solid hardcore bulldozers to come off the bench.

Blacker has the height but f**k me he needs time on the weights and maybe fitness?
If he had two x 15 min stints and ran full pelt onto a dummy half pass he would be damaging as hell. But in the little I have seen, he is a big boy that gets tackled by two people and easily handled.
Kerr though has come along in leaps and bounds. He should be starting and Graham should be on the bench if he is in the team at all in what should be his retirement year.

Jason Ryles is my most hated dragons player of all time.
The amount of games he lost us by pushing the impossible pass or dropping the ball at the worst possible time was staggering.
Couldn't stand him.

Loved to give a penalty away too especially at crucial times. Brain explosion king too

High knee lift got him in trouble too

But we’ve lost dozens of forwards prematurely - ones that have prospered elsewhere.

Quite shameful really

I get that, but Ryles bought toughness too, bent the line, ran hard, was hard to stop etc...
Those aspects i see in Kerr.
Kerr is more disciplined from i what iv seen.
He will be a good one no doubt!

15-20 years ago we had a production line of front rowers:
Ryles , Bailey, Ross, White, Geddes to go with a few outsiders and we were never short of grunt. They were the days!!

I think the high knee lift was Craig Smith who was basically run out of the nrl cause of that. Man what a machine he was during the 1999 season.

Had the honour of meeting him over in Fiji in 2018 on a family holiday. Mate what a champion fella, absolute legend and a great week having a few beers together everyday :thumbsup_tone1:

Interesting to see peoples opinion on Ryles.

In the minority it seems but I was a massive fan. Yes, he gave away penalties, but toward to end of his time with us, refs just had him in their vision. Some absolute "reputational" decisions. Binned for obstruction when Gaz scored in Anzac day, sent from the field again for kicking out in a scrum against the purple scum ( the game where Brownie said afterwards that Ryles should have put one on their chin ).

Big, skillful and tough player imho.

Ryles was top shelf and would have been even better if we had proper support players running off him.
Reddy & Fat Albert were exactly the same as Ryles re offloading ie: looked great when the team was willing to look for the pass but looked ordinary when the people around them were pedestrian.
Ryles with a slippery Morris sniffing around him would have been devastating.
