Most memorable Warriors game

I still remember watching the Phoenix in the corp box with a work mate and with one eye on the storm Wazzas final seeing Jro dot down... Phoenix finished and I convinced workmate to watch the end of the Wazzas game in the Trax bar at Wellington train station. When Witt held the ball up and scored the try....I have never seen a bigger cheer in a pub (myself included) my workmate had never seen so many people offer to shout unknown supporters piss.

My second most memorable game

The Storm game back in 1998 when Stacey put a bomb up after the hooter to gift Tony Tatupu? the final blow is a favourite moment of mine. Especially after Kimmorley was getting cheeky to Pongia 30 seconds from fulltime and got 1 on 1 stripped and then the miracle happened. Video referee took a bit of time to look at it then the green light lit up, the Storm crowd were stunned, the Warrior fans over the moon.

As much as NZ is a rugby country it's amazing when the Warriors are doing well how many people support them or talk about them. Sure there are a lot of casual RL and causal Warriors fans but when they are going good RL in NZ is strong.

And to think that was only 2 years ago! Can still picture that storm game, cutting loose at the pub after the winning try! F*ck bring on the season already!!

I was at the game, the most disciplined Warriors performance I've ever seen, the way our forwards just steamrollered up the middle 3rd relentlessly for the entire second half was awe-inspiring, I remember a sense of disbelief and helplessness from the Storm fans as they realised that they couldn't make headway against us. Elliot needs to show our props that video and tell them "this is what you do, EVERY week!"

That was only half the fun though, the Warriors contingent went nuts in Richmond after the game, one of the best nights out I've had in Melbourne!

Eels vs Warriors 2007 every time we kicked to Vatuvei we would get some result. I remember near the end of the game Manu dropped another bomb and grothe just cracked up laughing and rub Manu's head.

And yet Manu will still be remembered as 10x the player that that overrated hack Grothe Jnr ever was.

That may be just a little parochial Spacey :lol:

Alright I'll concde not 10x better, maybe 2 or 3 times.... but come on, Manu always puts in 110%, always rolls his sleeves up and makes good metres early in the set, and when he's in form he can be a great finisher... Grothe Jnr was a decent finisher when he wasn't crying about his injuries, who always gave the impression that he'd rather be doing other stuff than play footy. Plus Manu has cooler tatts, I mean c'mon, f**king Elvish?!

And the reason I say Grothe was overrated is that he was always expected to live up to his name, which he never really did.

Yes, I'm afraid his old man's boots were too big to fill

The disappointing thing with Grothe is he had ridiculous ability. If ever there was a bloke who had just as many if not more physical gifts than Vatuvei or even his own father, it was Grothe Jnr. Huge, one of the fastest guys in the game, tall to catch bombs, incredibly hard to tackle- but he couldn't really be bothered.

hard to go past the 2008 home game against melbourne, absolute pissing rain and we won it 8-6 on a lance hohaia penalty goal from something like 40 metres out with not long to go, and then made a desperate tackle on the siren to stop them from scoring late.

low scoring, but every second was utterly absorbing football. plus it rained so hard it was like being waterboarded, and was so cold i couldn't feel my hands by the end.

There are so many games between the Storm and Warriors that could make a top 10 list. I guess if the Warriors played like they did against the Storm every week we many have a premiership now

Another one that comes to mine is the smashing we gave to the Northern Eagles in 2002. 68-10 wasn't it? We killed it that game and on top of that it was the Little General's 150th to make it even sweeter.

Souths-Warriors. I think it was 2008. The Warriors were getting bent over by the referee and the video referee was doing the same, only with a hot fire poker. Warriors score with 5 to go (I think Wade McKinnon off a Steve PRice offload), and are behind by 2. Last minute, Witt weights through a grubber behind the line, Todd Byrne comes from nowhere, and crosses for the win. I'm in a corporate box straight across from Russell Crowe, who is wearing the teflon white Wabbitohs jacket, he drops his head into his arms as old uncle Eric Watson and his boys comes back to lay the smack on him yet again.
