Most Overrated Coach

RWB, that is very true.

Regarding Sheens, yes he did get the Premiership in 2005, but his Finals record was ordinary.

With Stuart, some people consider him a success at Origin over the past two years, yet he did not win a Series.

So I agree with you, arguments could easily be made that they should not be rated in the first place.

The media rate him very highly

I think the media appreciate the way he approaches the game with such a free flowing game plan. However his finals record & career record was always brought up in the media (and rightly so).

You have never proven anyone wrong, it's just that you never accept when you're proven wrong, you try to invent these bullshit excuses to get out of it and everyone just gives up because they know nothing will ever get through your thick skull, you turn this into some kind of win on your part.

Oh dear another eel fan to the rescue, the spoon hurts you boys don't it.

Don't worry your opinion can't be wrong, ask your spoon buddy ;)

Yeh I think Stuart definitely falls into that category. IMO he only did a mildly-successful job with NSW but it was deemed such a success because no one expected anything. Like Sheens he received a great team at the beginning of his career but just hasn't had the same sort of exposure that Sheens has with prolonged failure. Stuart only lasted 2 years at the Roosters after Fittler retired, his time at the Roosters is often looked back upon as a success which I guess you really can't argue it wasn't but how much did he actually prove as a coach with such a great side? His biggest test was when Fittler retired and he failed, miserably.

He really butchered the Sharks side too with some of his recruitment & retention decisions but got out of it reasonably unscathed due to the clubs poor financial position.

And walking into the NSW team there really wasn't a whole lot of expectation so even just a slight improvement was going to be seen as a success from the crap that had been dished up the previous 5 years. Even now I fear Daley will make us look at him even more fondly...

I think Origin is Ricky's niche so long as he has the right people around him helping with selections but I don't think he'll ever make a great club coach.

I can't disagree with any of that, it's why I'm looking forward to him coaching the Eels, it really is a make or break job for him.

My gut is also telling me Daley may take the Blues "backwards".

i can see where people are coming from with Ricky but he has re-built the blues from the shit Bellyache turned them into.

I think he will do us well for his 3 years to then pass it onto a capable coach to kick on from there like Dean Pay

Atleast with a spoon you don't get your hopes up

Hasler has his 2 like all other Manly premiership coaches, won't win another he will succumb to the gift/curse of our coaches

They never win just one abs they never win 2 or more, its destiny

Sheens is overrated by some and underrated by others. A coaches ultimate job is to win premierships. Sheens was the last coach to do this besides the big 3 of Bennett, Hasler and Bellamy (and came VERY close again in 2010 imo).

He definitely gets talked up too much but i think there are way to many people who carry on likes he's the worst coach in the league. Sheens is inconsistent and some of his selections just boggle the mind but imo he is one of the few coaches around capable of putting a team together that can win a comp.

I like how doggies said the 2012 dogs gf team was better than the 2009 Grand final team. Then he also dribbles on about how manly lost to the storm 40-12 but the dogs only lost 14-4 so they are the better team. If you use that logic isn't the 09 Eels team better as they almost beat an illegally assembled Melbourne team and the dogs struggled against this watered down version.

f**k your logic is stupid Doggiesbro. I'm assuming now you will say I'm clutching at straws and something about the wooden spoon. Or you might go on about how morris almost caught that ball. Or maybe you will go on about how tough James graham is despite biting Slater on the ear.

oh another spoon fan

how about the fact is, a manly fan said how the dogs were never in the grand final game. i said the dogs did better then manly did when they got flogged by storm.

i also then pointed out the dogs beat manly in the final and the previous season game with 3 players off injured before half time. therefor the better team. not only cause they did better against the storm in the finals, but also cause they beat manly.

though hey don't let facts ruin a good story spooner, you guys keep sticking together. i'm sure sometime in the next 40 years ull taste a title.

I just can't get past the thought that doggies 2012 was on the wings of an Eagle. Dessie is a good coach hey?

No disputing Dessie is a good coach, i'm so glad Manly are so poorly ran that he wanted out and joined the Dogs.

It's also good to see some of our kids coming through without being bought, and our recruits going so good, despite previous form.

Similar to the sharkies ;)

Lol Des is used up, Manly didn't have the money to chase a used up coach, Manly coaches only win 2 premierships and 2 only

Dogs signed Des mid season because he wanted money and money only, him being gone is a good thing because we simply don't have the money nor do we need the cancer which is Desmond
