Most Overrated Coach

Long thread, couldn't be bothered reading through it so don't know if he's been mentioned, but my vote goes to Shane Flanagan.

He's always got some excuse for a loss, but he really should have done better with the squads he has had at his disposal.

How is the Sheens over-rated ?
4 premierships and with 2 different clubs. Other coaches that have coached premiers with different clubs - Gibson, Bennett, Gould.

Even though it's a doggiesderp thread I'm inclined to point out Manly still only came 3rd in the March premiership, which means dick all in the grand scheme of things. You sound as excited as Lol@Souffs fans at the moment

Toovey can only be judged on his tenure which is a preliminary final and a solid start to this season. I'm making no claims as to the future but it's hardly a record that screams overrated. I'd prefer to be 4-1 than 1-4 though.

Everyone of them, except Ricky Sticky Stuart of course. You can take that to the bank...Oh wait a minute, banks are looking pretty...umm well lets just leave it at that shall we.

Go Ricky!!!

3 finals appearances at the tigers with the squads they had I guess would lead people to believe that.

His record at Cowboys was a disaster don't forget ;-)

Hagan won a premiership too

How could I forget that dipstick. What he did to Newcastle and Parra it has taken them both years to recover from (in parra's case they are still suffering from his handywork)

Look at what he did with their lower grades.

Sheens by a mile

Achieved great success with the raiders, they happened to be about 30% over their cap and thats what we know about

Achieved nothing in North Qld

Got the Tigers over the line in 2005, but although a great effort, a lot of the better teams were lame at the back end of 2005.
The damage done at the Tigers over the past years by his recruitment, retention and redundancy strategies may take years to recover from. After 2005 he did not have to do a lot to keep the team up with the stronger clubs but he failed miserably. A man with a massive ego who was never wrong, it was always someone else!!!

is Ricky Stuart overrated?

Sure he won a premiership with the roosters but that squad was delivered to him on a silver plater and the work was done by his predecessors?
So you are saying that the Dragons 2010 premiership was really because of Nathan Brown, who delivered a gun squad on a silver platter to Wayne Bennett.

Therefore, Bennett is overrated. Nice of you to admit that.

No, he's saying that Graham Murray delivered Ricky Stuart a premiership side that he subsequently f**ked up.

No mention of anyone in your dream ol' mate

Also it was a completely different set of circumstances to say the Melbourne cap cheating. Some posters here need to learn about context.

Honestly, just at this moment Id have to say Wayne Bennett.

His place in history is undoubtedly secure, but he's been falling since 2011 & not lost any stock as a result. We'll see if he can get back on track this year, but this past two seasons, he has been living on his name, not his results.

Sheens definitely on a longer-term scale.

Please never again mention the name "Michael Hagan", unless it is followed by the words, "is a total f**kstick".

Still weeping from last years grand final loss. The 1 and 4 start to the season isn't helping, especially when that 1 is parra. If SBW does a number on his team this week he might end himself.

And now we are above dogs he won't show his face till they're above us haha.

Plus I predicted a tough start for the dogs because of past gf losing teams have struggled the year after and he said I knew nothing because they had des as coach etc etc but although dogs have had bad luck with Injuries (which I also said could happen) he probably can't handle the fact that something actually happened like I said it possibly could.

I still think with a full squad they will come home strong but likes of inu and Keating are playing like busteds and those 2 (as an eels fans experience of watching them in our colours) if they have a few bad games they're hard to get back into a mind set to play well. Especially inu. Keating is average to begin with but in a winning team he has a simple game plan and executes it well so looks better than he actually is.
