Madness were a fantastic band. Get a clue Ron! Just because they didn't dress up like Def Lepard or some other 'c**k-rock' band like WASP or Poison doesn't mean they weren't any good!

As for the original comment by Phillips, they weren't under-rated, they were pretty big in the early-mid 80's.

They were absolute rubbish!!, you should be embarrased to even admit you like them, next you'll say Frankie goes to Hollywood were the shizz lol, why not...they were pretty much identical, and whatever they didn't make up for in dress...certainly made up for rubbish music comprising of lyrics, looks, persona, music talent....basically f**king everything thet makes bands rubbish.

Lots of personal opinions on this thread and as such that's what makes bands popular or not ( Public opinion ), However Police which was one of the original mentions was actually very universally popular and should not be mentioned on this thread at all !!!! Not embarassed to say I liked both of them, although the overt homosexual overtones of FGTH was a bit off putting.
The fact that you would categorise them together, is more credence to my theory that you see popular music as either c**k-rock or crap!

Don't know about him mate, But the newtown ( Bluebag ) Jet's are in first place with the parra Eels on the premier league ladder, and play them this Saturday at henson Park where the jets are undefeated all season. Gonna be a corker of a game for the premiership leader of the season with only three games left prior to semi final time......Kickoff 3pm mate. be there or be square !!!!! Top dayout for sure at the cost of a 7 bucks entry !!!! treat yourself to a cheap day of quality grass roots footy, ( Though they won't play any DEVO ) LOL........;-)

was not that long ago mate. Come on down to henson Park and treat yourself a great day of football this weekend. Top of the table clash btw the equal favourite sides in Premier league. Gonna be the game to be at for sure !!!! I am driving three hrsjust to be there myself. This time around LEWIS and SOWARD ( the FIELD equivelents ) are playing for the ROOSTERS NRL side however, there is plenty of depth to go round. jets have lost 4 games all year and Parra have lost 5, though they are ahead on 4 and against. This is the game of the season !!!!!!

Your wrong, well apart maybe from STP and Faith noMore, but W.A.S.P, Ratt, Badlands were all bands that had a one or two good albums but were never consistent.

Bandlands singer ( i thing it was Ray Gillian, previously with Black Sabbath) could never fullfill there portential because basically the guy dies from aids.

W.A.S.P, apart from there first 2 albums never continued there wining streak, although the Crimson Idol album is there best imo, but failed when it came to sales.

Ratt, there first 2 albums were huge in America, one went triple platinum, one double, and although there albums after that went platinum, they never made any impact overseas, apart from Japan.

DIO, a massive talent, had success with Rainbow then Sabbath, but never really sustained success over a number of years.

One listen with my highly tuned ears tells me that any sales they achieved puts them in the highest end of the over-rated scale.
