mortimer showed more in his first year of fg, then mullen has showed in all his time in fg.

The kid is 22. He has had more of a "career" than a lot of footballers.

Mullen is one of the better 5/8s in the competition. Better, not best. If we were a successful team with more strikepower and a good halfback he would be one of the pinup boys of the NRL.

It's not his fault that we are just average without the roster to be a serious premiership threat.

No, but it is his fault that he doesn't ever even look like giving us a spark when we need it. Seriously, when Dureau is our great white hope in a game, you're doing yourself a great disservice.

While calling him a myth is a bit harsh I feel his game is too lazy and he is too slow to decide what he wants to do when it comes to running to the line or passing. He telegraphs his kicks and passes far too much. He needs more Benji Marshall in his game.

Hmm... Kinda a myth was supposed to be the next Andrew Johns but definately seems like a nuffie these past 2 weeks...

He loves this mini chip/bomb thing to our wingers. Lets face it, it doesnt work. If he is kicking long he finds space very well but his attacking kicking game is just terrible. Just roll it into the in goal instead of giving the ball straight to the other team for them to just run the length of the field...

I think Ston is also playing him wrong. In my opinon he has 2 real strenghts. Firstly his long kicking game mentioned above and then his most potent weapon: HIS RUNNING GAME... I mean I'm no NRL coach but I am sure Mullen is one of our best runners in terms of speed and agility etc. He should be instructed to take on the line more with Dureau trying to create a little bit of space for him. Either take on the line and go for it or pass closer to the line. He doesn't engage the line enough so defenders just wait for him to pass and smash the guy he gives the ball to.

Hopefully in these coming weeks he runs more and lets Dureau do more of the attacking passing (not that Dureau has been in superb form no nothing...)

What i have seen of Mullen"

The Good:

- He's fast.
- Sometimes has the ability, tactically, to control the game with kicks.
- Can sometimes throw a nice long ball, left to right.
- Is a reasonable denfender.

The Bad:

- Inconsistent
- Goes missing in the 2nd half, usually just when we need him to put his hand up.
- Isnt overly strong, has pretty average footwork.

I woulda hoped that @ 22, in his 5th season, he would have had those last three ironed out.

He isnt weak for his size and his footwork is pretty good, has a very handy step.
