lol mullen will never play origin again. Every other nsw 5/8th is probably ahead of mullen in the pecking order

Yeh, but NSW always picks one of the shittier halves. Mullen was just playing too well the last few years, i reckon he's playing badly enough to be considered at this point.... :sarcasm::sarcasm:

Not sure if true.... Just read it in Facebook, but apparently Mullen has ruled himself out of city country........ Could be to have a week off to recover from this ongoing shoulder injury...... Or he personally can see his form is terrible atm

To be honest, I feel the way he has played so far this year has ruled him out of a Country jersey more than the shoulder.

Looks like poor Mullo has to endure yet more humiliation at not getting picked for his state. Good enough for Country origin but not for the big show. Best of all is he has been picked at halfback. Even if he outplays Pearce he won't get a look in.

Last year was a farce. The fact he could outplay Reynolds in back to back weeks and still get overlooked was disgusting because he wasn't a grub. He was easily head and shoulders above any other 5/8 that NSW had to offer. Was the standout halve two years ago too. Oh well...

The proposed crackdown on players pulling out of City-Country with phony injuries is about a decade too late ? and is misplaced. The Sun-Herald reported that the Country Rugby League wanted players who refused to play in the match at Wagga on Sunday week stood down for one NRL match, after 29 men who pulled out last year were 'fit' to back up for their clubs the following week. For one thing, forcing players to show up for a medical where they are checked out by the representative team doctor would solve the problem ? if they don't show up, then they should miss a club game. No exceptions. Secondly, the same rule should apply for the May 2 international double header on the Gold Coast. How embarrassing for the game if we are tougher on withdrawals from a state selection trial than we are for Test matches?

Is it little wonder why the NRL still persist with this City-Country Origin farce? It's been well and truly past its use-by date for years, and no wonder why 29 potential players for the match pulled out last year. The classic example was Matt Cooper from the Dragons several years ago, who'd pull out 'injured' from City-Country, only to play for his team one or two days later

Jarryd will bounce back, he's a good player and a good person. He is clearly going through some mental issues right now and he needs the club to rally behind him. We as supporters owe it to him because he's been our best player basically since Joey retired. I still think Mullen's best football is ahead of him. In saying that, I get the feeling thought it won't be with the knights. He needs a change of scenery. He'd fit in perfectly at a club like Melbourne or the Bunnies.

At the moment with the squad and coach we have, we desperately need vocal halves who will organise our rabble.... and mullo is not the answer for us in our situation

I'm no fan of Brett Kimmorley, he is quite possibly the worst commentator going around, but his wrap up and hatchet job on the Knights game in the Tele was pretty spot on. Nice to see a former player telling it how it actually is.

It's about time someone called Kurt out in the media, to be honest. He's had a free pass to be as shit as he likes for a long time. We need haters in the media right now.

Kurt Gidley also had a bad game as captain of that side and I think it’s time the Knights look at how they’re using Sione Mata’utia.
Why do you have him playing in the back-row for 20 minutes? He’s a star fullback who played for Australia last year.
Where’s that all heading to? I think they need to settle on him as a fullback and find another position for Kurt Gidley, if he’s still in their best 13.

Does anyone else see Sione as a long-term winger for the knights?

I don't really think he has anything to offer that he cant do from the wing. I must say, I think he has been massively over-hyped thus far

Gagai to FB and Sione at centre. That's where they both played all their junior league.

He played at second row this week and as another poster said in the modern game second row and centre are interchangeable and I thought he was exposed majorly

I think Sione is brilliant for an 18 year old kid, and has the world at his feet. I think he could make a fist out of Centre, Wing and Fullback... he has 2 years to develop before he's at an age where most kids even make their debut. At the moment, though, I think Gagai would be better for us at fullback, and bring Sione in playing his natural position of centre.

Gagai was just about as much of a teenage sensation as Sione, but has the experience and form now to be really good at fullback. Give Sione some time in the position he knows how to play.

Is it just me, or could Sione turn out very, very big? He looks massive already for an 18 year old.
