The club should now make a play for Dave Hamilton (the man Mulholland is replacing at the Raiders) to oversee junior recruitment and development.

Hamilton has been responsible for scouting and signing some of Raiders best junior talent over nearly the last 2 decades including Dugan, Carney, Milford, Weyman etc. This is one area we really seem to be lagging at the moment and Hamilton could help fix that up.

Hamilton was poached by the Titans a month or so ago.

The (hardly surprising) word from reliable posters in Jub Ave is they'll give the job to someone already in the joint.

Brian Smith would be a good candidate. He was "one of the boys" but on the other hand is still fairly disconnected with the club to be able to be objective.

Here we go again jobs for the boys.....

Have no idea what was behind his departure.

But given he was appointed for 3 years, I always assumed that the moves he made was part of an overall 3 year timeframe. Hence the claim that big name signings would occur in 2017, once the cap issues had been fixed.

Now he is gone, what happens to that plan?

Will it be a continuation of the 3 year strategy, or are we back at square 1? If the rumours are true that he was at odds with management, then this would assume a completely new strategy which could very well land us back in the mess we just got out of.

The rumours that he was clashing with management/coaching staff... Have these actually come from anywhere other than our own anti-Dragons brigade on this forum? Because I haven't heard them anywhere except for here?

Who honestly knows why he left . But one thing for certain is we seem to have most of our players coming off contract at the end of 2017 including Dugan and Widdop . I hope we have somebody who can keep the ones we want at the club or the likes of Mullholand could have a field day taking players

His signings have, IMO, filled every need we had.

We needed strength up front - he gets us Packer and Masoe.
We needed depth across the park - he grabs us Lui, Ikahihifo, McCarthy in the forwards and Mann, KFFL and encourage junior promotion in the backs. All very versatile players and all first grade quality.
We needed a hooker option from the bench who can push Rein for a starting spot - he gets Havili after missing out on McInnes.
We want to build our team as a unit, he oversees the re-signing of Ah Mau, Mata'utia, Matthews and Cooper as they look about to hit their best years.

All this whole admitting we are under salary cap stress and would be looking to be more active in 2017. Done a fine job and is a shitty, shitty loss.

Agree whole heartedly
