My attempt at a serious thread

Uhuh. Thanks for the definition, but I don't think the wingman idea will work with me. For starters, I don't drink! That's not a problem though, there are other places than bars and pubs! Secondly (and this is something that entered my mind on a walk I took this arvo as being something I'm gonna have to work out as well), my mates with whom I would take as a wingman. I have 3 best mates: 1 lives on the Central Coast (the other side of the country to me in Perth), and 2 are kinda anti-social. One is VERY anti-social (won't move from in front of his computer unless he absolutely has to), and the other isn't so bad. Neither of these 2 have ever been out with anyone. I've known these guys for about 16-18 years, since primary school. These guys -and they are GREAT guys- were always the outcasts at school, but I was always mates with them and had no issues displaying that to the other kids. As a result (and possibly along with other reasons!) I was cast off with them, so I didn't have many other mates. These days, they are still my best mates, but I have another circle of close friends who -ironically- are all female, but they have their own lives and worries, and I don't like to burdon them. They'd all like me to start going out with people, and have made suggestions, but I'm not keen on these suggestions (don't ask me what they are now, I can't remember)! What I need to work out is how I'm going to aquire a close-knit circle of friends with whom I CAN go out with. I am also at the moment considering travelling, but not one person in either circle would come, and I'm not one for doing something like this alone.

Like I said, I'll work it all out one day (hopefully) soon.

Seriously though - it doesn't work for everyone, but it's comforting to have a wingman at times because they make you relax.

In all seriousness, a wingwoman is a much, much better solution. They work in slightly different ways, but because they're really good at reading other women's body language and sucking up to each other, they're effective.

It's kind of funny, isn't it, that we put so much emphasis on finding someone else and that will supposely make us happy. Some people i know even define happiness by having a significant other.

I mean i spent like over $300 on the weekend trying to find someone and got nowhere...

It's what our ultimate goal is in life though, our pre-programed life mission is to procreate so it makes sense that out of all things, it is that that people tend to place a lot of importance on.

I all honesty though, it's not something I've put much effort into, I really can't be f**ked. There's plenty of time for me to find a missus, but for now, i'm pretty happy being single doing whatever the f**k I want without worrying if the missus wont like it :lol:

To be honest, i'd be a sh*t boyfriend anyway, i'm far too immature, swear like there's no tomorrow, don't notice when people get haircuts and i'm a bit of a narcisist Plus I think valentines day is f**kin' stupid :lol:

I must admit, that's one thing that I'm currently in a bit of a state of 'I need to fix this up'. I'll be 26 in a few months, and although -believe it or not- sex itself is something I have never been that fussed about, it doesn't interest me, I have also never been out with anyone, and I've been feeling for a few months that I'd like to give it a go sometime soon. I could NEVER go on one of those online sites, nor could I go to any singles meetups (I don't even know what they're called!). I also don't think I could go out with anyone I don't know beforehand, but all the girls I know and I'm close to (the single ones I'm specifically referring to here), I don't think I could go out with them because if it doesn't work, I'd lose a close friend ... and I'd hate that. There is a solution somewhere, but it'll take many more midnight chats to work out!

My advice is this- dare to become more of an arsehole and start acting more cocky. For some reason women like this sort of thing and they'll view you more as "date material" and less as just "a nice guy". The nice guy can come out when you're kissing them- they love it then.

Maybe it's a confidence thing. Perhaps people who are more inclined to be assholes are more confident and hence attract ladies easier.
