firstly, i would like to congratulate the boys on the game last night - i was very proud of them. my heart was racing for the last 20 minutes. it was a fantastic game of football.

now, while we still have a hope of the 8, i dont think we will get there.

however, there have been plenty of positives and, indeed, negatives throughout the year.

i will start with the positives:
- the form of brett hodgson. best form of his life and we finally have a top quality fullback.
- todd payten and pat richards returning from serious injuries and gaining some good form the last few weeks.
- skando and benny galea have been outstanding this year.
- the young guys (halatau, harrison, gibbs, and to a lesser extent fulton) getting plenty of game time getting them ready for next year.
- average crowds up on previous years... 14,000
- signing honest and good quality first graders in whatuira, stapelton (apparently)
- we won more games than last year... still with 7 rounds to go.

now the negatives:
- in 5 games, which were more than winnable, we received some of the worst desicions of the year:
* souths, round 2
* broncos, round 3
* panthers, round 8
* raiders, round 17
* bulldogs, round 20
unforgivable bludners from officials, as well as some bad desicions from players, cost us any chance of making this season very successful. im not saying we would have won all of these games, and i am not blaming the refs... but the 50/50 desicions NEVER went our way.
- benji only playing a handful of games - really hurt our attack and confidence.
- missing out on some big name players which could have made a huge difference to our club ie: webb, morrison, mongahan.
- again, losing games in which we were expected to win, and win easily; souths, manly.
- the danny williams incident - nuff said.
- being held scoreless in 3 games, as well as conceeding 128 points in those 3 games.
- lack of consistancy.

so... thus far 2004 has been eventful, and not overly successful. aspriations of playing finals footy are quickly becoming another "next year" thought.

consistancy is the key. if we played with as much heart and passion as on friday night agaist the dogs, we would be contenders. anyone watching the game and not knowing where we were on the ladder, while knowing the dogs were 1st, would have thought we were top 6, maybe even top 4.

another 3 or 4 wins at the end of the season would be a good way to finish off. penrith did it in 2002, and look what happened in 2003.

wests tigers - thats my team.
