Nanna power & future of EAS

Knights supporter and member of the "Nannas" Chris Webster said she was impressed the Premier had sought out the group to speak to them about the stadium.

"He seemed very nice," she said. "But he didn't seem to be sure of us, because we beat his team [the Parramatta Eels] in 2001."

Fellow Nanna Elaine Richards was pleased with assurances from Minister for the Hunter Jodi McKay that the stadium fee dispute would be resolved and that the Knights would not be leaving EnergyAustralia Stadium, at Broadmeadow.

"She [Ms McKay] told us, 'Please don't worry. It will never ever happen, I won't let it'," Mrs Richards said.
"But can you believe them? I mean, politicians do tell whoppers don't they?"

That whole nanna group is cringeworthy.

If anything sums up the kinda age demographic and character of our fan base, that would just be about it.

And we wonder why 14 year olds think its uncool to go to the Knights games.

Most, if not all of that "nanna group" have been suporters since 1988, and from my observation are at all the games, what would you like to happen? they all p!ss off at a certain age??? there are plenty of young people at the games as well, you are struggling to find stuff to criticise if you are picking on them.

No that's not it at all Antonius.

Nothing wrong with the Nanna group from a supporter perspective, but using them constantly as a PR tool for the Knights is not a good image for the club in my opinion. At all.

The Knights are already uncool as it is, without the core of its supporters being portrayed as 70+ grandmas and the Knights using them constantly as a PR theme for anything newsworthy.

Its outdated and very uncool.

Did you hear some of the quotes? " The Knights should be allowed to play for free "...

OMG.

I wonder how many "Young" people bothered to attend that meeting. Maybe the "Nanna Group" were the only ones there? I don't know I wasn't there. I do know that the annual meetings are populated by a lot of the older generation (including myself)

Maybe that's one reason we are still yet to privatise and accept modern change as the way for the future?

Like I said, nothing wrong with their supporter group, just not sure that actively seeking PR for them is a good look for the image of the club for the younger generation who SHOULD be encouraged to start attending meetings etc.

For your information Karma........very few "young" people even bothered to attend that meeting, or ANY meetings for that matter. If it wasn,t for the support of "The Nannas" and " The Crusade" then the Knights would be probably completely on there own.

Maybe YOU should get OFF YOUR FAT ARSE and actually DO SOMETHING (god forbid).

The only thing that you seem to take great pleasure in is constantly bloody whinging.

Look through all your posts (I dont think there is actually ONE thing that you DONT whinge about)

Tell us what you really think Medieval  You should look a bit harder though...

Actually, the younger generation won't bother turning up, because GOD FORBID, that we'd lumped into the same kind of narrow minded reputation that the vast majority of Knights seem to have.

Our crowd has more backward bowling club minded chook raffle people following it than probably anyone in the NRL.

That works well because the management and board has mostly been bowling club chook raffle people running it for the last 20 years anyway.

Thankfully things are on the up on that front.

If the club is so badly run............why dont you do something about it...........Personally

Unfortunately to be honest mate, even if I wanted to help or be involved, my past issues would prevent that ever being an option as much as I'd love it to be.

I just try and stay under the radar a bit nowadays.

I try and do what I can from voting, filling out the feedback surveys the Knights have occasionally, and most of all renewing my seats year in year out, and buying merchandise and stuff at the games. Actually getting involved isn't really a realistic option for me.

You left out one important thing......... criticising .......

Karma, instead of whinging, have you tried taking your concerns to the club itself? Geez...

BTW, apart from this instance, when has the "nanna group" ever been used actively as PR for the Knights? :? Talk about clutching at straws...

Of course I have.

I've also been involved with the Knights from a business sponsorship perspective as well, so I feel I have a good background of dealings with the club to comment to be honest.
