I would like all the Knights fans on here to apologise to me, slotmachine and spot on.
From day one we could see Nathan Brown couldn’t coach.
We wouldn’t be in this position if I was the head coach, slotmachine and spot on my two assistants.

We would also probably be on our 5th straight spoon with a roster somehow worse than 2016.

Anyway, f**k Brown off. The sooner the better. Bring in Jason Demetriou; doesn't have the baggage of the other coaches available and has the resume perfect to take an NRL coach role.

If Brown ws to go it will be end of season. Only guy I'd be after is Kevvy Walters.....

Walters has the pedigree, knows what systems work and knows plenty about culture. Let's face it players in the NRL shouldnt have to be taught about basic skills, it's about man management, getting the best out of individuals and developing a game plan.

Honest question. What does Demetriou have achievement wise to justify being and nrl coach?

Other than being Bennets long term assistant I know little of the bloke.

JD was assistant to Paul Green when the Cowgirls won the GF.
JD won the QLD cup and State Championship with Pride back in 2014.
He also won the NSW Cup and State Championship with the Dragqueens in 2016.
Everywhere he goes he has had success.

Achieved nothing, last thing we need is a head coach on a learning curve.

Was head coach in England and contract not renewed - did nothing there. QLD Cup for 2 years - won back to back minor premierships He's been an assistant in the NRL since 2015.

Bennett recommended him for the Broncos job which means he's a shit coach.

The performances on field have been below expectation and wpuld be interesting to understand why.

I get why people want the coach fired. But the timing needs to be right. If you fire Brown now you need to be damn sure that in doing so his replacement will improve on the situation, esp when there are so many new signings who came to play knowing Brown would be coach.

If that is the direction then fine. But f**k a lot of people in here are good at pointing out problems and sulking without identifying some proper solutions.

I certainly dont have the answers, I am lost at how this squad can be so bad.

But firing the coach now may give some a short term chub, but unless the replacement is better it will only make things worse.

Anyway, just my thoughts.

Faithfully,

The Herd.....

Well lets look at the four best options on the market.

1. Tim Sheens. Veteran coach but you can question whether or not the game has passed him given how poorly Wests were in his last few years. He could just be the authoritative figure we need in the coaching role to get the best out of the players.

2. Trent Barrett. Maybe he got a raw end of the deal with Manly but I don't have faith in him being a high quality coach even in the long term. He'd benefit from continuing to be a reserve grade coach or an assistant.

3. Geoff Toovey. People look to him for his passion and his enthusiasm as a coach but I think he benefited from being Manly through and through. I doubt he can be any good at another club where he doesn't understand its culture, its history etc.

4. Anthony Griffin. Better than Brown all round but I guess you have the question marks over the fact he couldn't get it right at Brisbane or Penrith. Maybe at Penrith he was hard done by with Gus being the merkin he is but I wouldn't be overly confident with him.

Essentially, the top coaches I know of that are available have some baggage or clear flaws that likely wouldn't be good for us. Demetriou is a bold bet to make. Untested in the NRL but lacks the baggage of Griffin or Sheens, lacks of the obvious doubt of Toovey and Barrett. If there's any a good opportunity hedge your bets on an untested coach, its now with Demetriou with most established coaches being well entrenched in their current deals. It can end up like Brennan, sure, but that shouldn't give us a reason to not take a shot on him.

If there's another option out there then I'm by all means open to them.

Wait till end of the year and target the guy you really want. The season is shot...

Kevvy Walters would be my pick if we were to release Brown.

For some reason Brown hasnt got the players up for the game. Management is what sets the intent of any organization ......The look on every player during the warm up didnt fill me with high hopes.....to a man they looked miserable. Pearce had his SOO face on....

Walters is a dud.
There is a reason he will never coach the Donkeys.
