Again, I repeat "N.F.I - simple"

Do I watch football? When it is on, at the moment I watch most of the rugby league games broadcast on FOXSPORTS.

Do I watch just Titans games? No. See above.

Karmichael Hunt time and time again comes up trumps in a rep jumper, in the big games when the pressure is on. Matt Bowen can't lay claim to that. Matt Bowen is my favourite player in the competition as well by the way.

If you can fault a Hunt performance for QLD or Australia, you're deluded.

Jarrod Hayne is of rep calibre, Nathan Merritt isn't. I am not going to waste one minute in typing any reasoning. It is pretty clear cut. I don't expect a one eyed and emotional Souths fan suffering after last night's loss to hear reasoing in any event.

Enjoy your weekend and the rest of the season ;-)

You obviously didnt read my post game review last night, i was quite happy with souths performance, and i thought manly played quite well, last year we would of got hammered by 30, manly didnt dominate at brookvale, and thats why i am quite happy with our game.

How could you possibly say Merritt isnt of Rep Calibre, when selectors hasnt even given him a chance yet ?, he played Prime Minister XIII last year, but no one in the general public knows how he played.

at minimal, he did deserve a city origin jumper this year.

Rep calibre is too general, my bad.

Nathan Merritt is not Origin calibre. This is not an insult, some good players never play Origin and Merritt will be one of those. Deal with it. Merritt will reach the heights of a City jersey and maybe another appearance for the PM XIII though nothing more.

merritt could handle origin, if anyone watched the game last night he was there for everything. tackled the forwards, cleaned up the breaks and ran back hard at the forwards without getting pushed back...

but a lot of you muppetts wont pick him because of his size, well if you watched him you would find he defends as good as anyone else...

i wouldnt put him in front of hayne, but he deserves a chance at the other wing spot...

as for hicks, hes a good winger, but you put merritt on hicks wick for manly and you see how many tries he would score...

*waits for muppetts abuse*

Kenny The Movie gave you a new way to describe others

Why wouldn't I pick Nathan Merritt?

One reason - he just flat out isn't good enough for Origin IMO. Deal with it.

For The Record Dutchy, Hicks & Merritt in my mind should of been the wingers for origin I and beyond, yeah i agree, Hicks is a tad more class than Merritt, and i think he would handle origin really well.

I'd give him a go, hell he'd have alot more pride wearing a blue jersey than some blokes currently in that team. Top try scorers deserve a shot.

Blues have nothing to lose and with a bit of re-shuffling having Merritt or El masri in the team couldn't make em any wose than with some of the useless hacks in the team now.

It's farkin sh*t how players like that nuffie Jamie Lyon gets a free ride into the the team, but consitent performing players who are specialists in their positions won't get a look in because of a stupid myth.

This origin series sort of proves the size over form concept is a joke.

Yea last night...Merritt scored Zero tries
ok let me rephrase, if merritt was playing for manly where on the same wing hicks is on now, merritt would not just be leading the tryscorer tally but would be in a blues jersay...

Bowen should be ahead of hunt as Merritt should be ahead of hayne, simple

Both Pre-Origin Form have been miles better than Hayne & Hunt

And pre origin form had Cronk, Prince and Thurston ahead of Lockyer by a fair way. Prince could have been 7 and Thurston 6.
Thankfully the "smart" people for QLD dont pick on form and form alone.

NO!. El Masri or Grothe

No no no, they dont just hand out blue jerseys.
Grothe deserves to play, Merrit and El Masri would get Own3d by the QLD backs.

grothe will be the first new face brought in, merrit=no chance IMO, he has flashes of brilliance but goes missing for weeks at a time. hicks may not whip out a "magical" as some people have described merrits but he is much more solid defensively, positionally and is more consistent, hicks has a better shot at origin than merrit. and also, if merrit was at manly he would be in premier league unfortuantly as he would NEVER get a start over hicks and robertson is a perfect complemenet to manlys good kicking game, so he wouldnt be top tryscorer and wouldnt be playing origin. game over

My Point is Hunt & Hayne have done nothing this year, and they still get picked, the best players in the positions this year in merritt and bowen get ignored.

If They have been reasonable, sure, but they have done sweet f**k all this season, its a disgrace, if it was someone more deserving like hicks i wouldnt of cared that merritt didnt get selected, same with bowen, had slater got chosen i wouldnt of cared.

There is no way in the world that Robertson is better than Merritt, Merritt would make first grade in every team in the comp, maybe and just maybe bar melbourne, even then its touch and go for anthony quinns spot in the team.

Well, aside from the fact the fact Rabbitohs2005 has the same number of braincells as a dead Irishman, I think the results of the poll thus far speak for themselves. Merritt is not an Origin standard player, he's too small, too easy for the big agile QLD backs to dominate. And he is defensively weak. If you want to bring in another winger, it should be Eric Grothe, who is miles ahead of Merritt and one of the best wingers going around. He's big, strong, and fast...does a mountain of work and is (usually) safe under the high ball (apart from a few shockers, I'll admit that). Add to that the fact he has been there and done it before, and he has it all over Merritt in areas besides talent as well.

lol what rubbish.

Merritt has tons more speed and agility than hicks and robertson put together, he would be a dream winger for manlys kicking game, and Merritts Defence the last few games has moulded with that of the teams, outstanding, he takes down bigger blokes week in week out.

I agree Hicks deserves a shot ahead of Merritt, but To Suggest Robertson is even in the same class as Merritt, is a complete joke.

Really? Take Parramatta...

1-Luke Burt
2-Jarryd Hayne
3-Ben Smith
4-Timana Tahu
5-Eric Grothe

You reckon he'd push any of that lot out? Not a snowballs chance in hell...And then he'd be behind Inu at least, if not Joel Reddy depending on the position that needed filling, and I'd have him below Dave Williams as well...

Too Small, what f**kin rubbish seriously, he is 3cm smaller than cutie and he is also heavier than cutie, slater, bowen amongst others.

Buddy your killing me, His Defence has moulded into that of the souths team, outstanding, Grothes Defence has been very average this season, and also has shown little attacking skill this year.

Grothe when in form is better than Merritt, I agree, but his form this year has been a complete joke.

say ben smith, he is a rubbish footballer at best, take your hand of it mate, your PL players in reddy and williams, cant even cut it in the NRL yet, let alone excel past one of the game most exciting wingers.

Grothe has hit form, he's been our best back in a few matches and he's done Origin before...as for Merritts size, I see you haven't met his opposites should miraculously get picked for his one and only Origin in match 3...namely Greg Inglis. Love to see him try and shut the kid down, Inglis makes him look like Roy Bell

Ben Smith is one of the best defensive centres in the comp, and he has surpassed Tahu in attack this year. But of course, you obviously don't watch league, so you wouldn't know that. I'd take Reddy over Merritt any day if we needed a fullback, although they both defend like spastics on the wing. I notice you neglected to name Inu, which really does give the game away...

Anyway, it's pretty clear that this is a BBSF style gee up, over a similarly mediocre player....
