He is completely not in sync with the style of the Spurs game. Unless they want to move in a different direction which seems ridiculous considering they are the world champions. I bet Bowen, Finley and Ginobilli will share the SG and SF spots whilst Brent Barry will play a little point and get hardly any game time at all. I think Bowen and Ginobilli will start to begin with and if Bowen shows good form along with Finely, Ginobilli will start off the bench but still play about 30 mins a game.

Finley plays next to NO DEFENCE. He throws up a heap of shots in the 4th quarter. Many think he's a bit of a clutch shooter but having watched the Mavs for a few years now i have come to the conclusion that he is useless in the 4th. I find that he plays best when the team is either getting beaten by 30 or winning by 30...

Wow, I didn't know that. How far over the cap? Because I remember that thing with Joe Smith that caused a huge debacle.
yeah i think that was becuase they tried some under the table type deal or something. It's quite complicated if your over the cap you cant just go out and sign players and pay the tax but you can go over with trades or something. I couldn't give you a proper run down but thats why teams are cutting players like finley etc. to avoid the luxury tax payments

Damon Jones to the Cavs

Damon Jones, Cavaliers agree to 4-year contract
By TOM WITHERS, AP Sports Writer
September 8, 2005

CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Cleveland Cavaliers concluded their busy offseason by finally getting around to the point.

Free-agent point guard Damon Jones reached agreement on a four-year, $16.1 million contract with Cleveland, giving the club a sorely needed outside shooter and another piece to go with superstar LeBron James.

San Antonio are raging favourites again i guess.

Im still rueing the year Orlando nearly signed Duncan only for his wife/partner and David Robinson to persuade him away at the last minute!

A team can go over the salary cap to retain their own players up to as much as they want, but at a certin point, about 60 million i think, the luxury tax kicks in where all the teams over that level have to pay dollar for dollar. i.e. team has 90 million worth of salaries they pay 30 million in luxury tax.
A team which is over the salary cap, 44 million i think, can only sign players not on their roster the season before by using the mid level exception, low level exception or signing a player to the minimum wage. NVE was signed to the LLE as far as i know.

How the mavs let finley go is a different matter all together :)

Damn!

Thats a risky trade for the Knicks. Not only does Curry have a heart condition but he has never been a consistent performer. Chicago will be very happy with the accquisition of Tim Thomas and Sweetney.
