So then, the Heat Roster

C - Zydrunas Ilgauskas (FA)
PF - Chris Bosh
SF - Mike Miller (FA)
SG - Dwayne Wade
PG - LeBron James

BN - Dexter Pittman (Draft)
BN - Joel Anthony (Re-signed)
BN - Udonis Haslem (Re-Signed)
BN - Jamaal Magloire (Re-signed)
BN - Mario Chalmers
BN - James Jones (Re-Signed)
BN - Carlos Arrayo (Re-Signed)

Wow...thats your Roster of 12...with the other 2 draft picks to sign.

Are they a chance for Barnes? Although Cleveland are negotiating hard for him.

#2 Team:
C - Joel Anthony/Juwan Howard/Jamaal Magloire/Dexter Pittman
PF - Udonis Haslem
SF - James Jones?
SG - Carlos Arrayo?
PG - Mario Chalmbers?

I think they still need a SF and SG...they have too many bodies at C to get playing time out of all of them imo.

Pittman is nowhere near NBA ready.....he'll be someone to develop but by all accounts he needs to lose a sh*tload of weight to be able to play more than 2 minutes at a time. He'll probably alternate between the D-League and Inactive for the Heat. So I think he's their big that won't make the top 12. Barnes is a possibility as is Dooling. Definitely need another wing reserve and another PG, and with Magloire I don't see the need for Juwan Howard (although personally I'd rather Howard to Magloire).

Just calling it early - based on what I've seen of him in the past and over the last two weeks with a real PG, JaVale McGee is going to average something around 18-11 with 2.5 blocks next year and take out MIP. Heard it hear first.

Regarding JaVale McGee, wouldn't it be fair to assume that Blatche is going to cut into his production?

I catered for that - I think Blatche is going to average somewhere between 22-25 points. He might impact his rebounds a bit more but really, it's Blatche and McGee up front for the Wiz and not much else so I wouldn't be surprised to see both average between 9 & 12 rebounds a night.

Magloire officially re-signs with the Heat.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5392160

As I said earlier, I still think Howard would have been better than Magloire - he's had a better career, had a better season last year and has a little bit of range on his shot - Magloire can't shoot a lick. And despite shooting more free throws than field goals, he only shot 36% from the line last year. I know it probably won't really make any difference with the three Mi-Egos he's playing with, but I just don't see the point of signing him when there's a few better options available.

No Dooling for the heat...

The Milwaukee Bucks have signed guard Keyon Dooling to a contract, General Manager John Hammond announced today. A 10-year NBA veteran, Dooling averaged 6.9 points, 2.5 assists and 1.0 rebound in 53 games (eight starts) for the New Jersey Nets last season. He enjoyed his best statistical season in 2008-09 when he averaged 9.7 points, 3.5 assists and 2.0 rebounds in 77 games for the Nets.

The bucks are building a deep team

I like the pick-up by the Bucks, needed a backup to Jennings and Dooling is an above average defensive PG. If they can get Maggette to play a little bit of defence (assuming he starts), they could be an absolute monster defensive team next year.

Barnes has confirmed he'll sign with the Raptors, apparently on a two year, $10m deal. Will need to be a S&T.

About right price I'd say, any more years or dollars and I'd question it but Toronto dearly needed some help on the wings and they get probably the best swingman left on the market.

Oh and a nice little pay rise for Barnes as well, after earning about $1.5m last year.

Damn I like what Toronto have done since losing Bosh.

Accumulating Draft picks...getting a trade exception...picking Ed Davis.

Weems and DeRozan playing very well.

Keeping Calderon and Barbosa, Having Jarrett Jack playing well as well as Marco Belinelli

I think they'll go ok this year.

Picking up Kleiza was a good move too - not a star but a pretty solid player. Suspect on D though.

They need some size badly, no real Centre as yet.

Just reading something about how if it's a S&T, it would have to be for 3 years AND can't be for that much as Orlando is restricted to re-signing him based on what he earned last year. This is under the CBA. So could be interesting to see how this pans out.

Good sh#t Barnes is gone, and what a surprise Toronto as well, just like Hedo, go and get the cash and do sweet FA lol, then get the sh#ts and want a trade in 12 months time.

Clippers re-sign forward Craig Smith

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The Los Angeles Clippers and free agent Craig Smith have reached a deal for the power forward to return to the team.

Smith averaged 7.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 16.4 minutes in 75 games last season, when he shot 57 percent from the floor.

He was originally acquired by the Clippers last July along with Sebastian Telfair and Mark Madsen from Minnesota in exchange for Quentin Richardson.
Smith joins free agents Randy Foye, Ryan Gomes and Brian Cook, who already signed with the Clippers. The team's three draft picks - Al-Farouq Aminu, Eric Bledsoe and Willie Warren - have secured deals, too.

Blazers name Rich Cho as new general manager

Posted Jul 19 2010 2:10PM
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Oklahoma City assistant general manager Rich Cho has been named the new GM of the Portland Trail Blazers.

Cho, 44, has been assistant for the Thunder for the past nine seasons. The northwest native joined the team as an intern when the franchise was based in Seattle.
"Everyone I spoke to about Rich commented not just on his qualifications but on who he is as a person,'' Blazers president Larry Miller said in a statement. "He is well known for his ability to connect genuinely with people. Rich will be a great fit for our organization and for Portland. He is an executive on the rise and we're thrilled to have him as a Trail Blazer.''
Terms of the contract with Cho were not disclosed. The Blazers scheduled a news conference on Monday to discuss the appointment.
Cho replaces Kevin Pritchard, who helped usher the team out of the Jail Blazers era but was fired shortly before the NBA draft last month.
During his time in Seattle Cho worked closely with Microsoft to develop a comprehensive player evaluation system. A member of the Washington State Bar, he also served as a vice president in charge of legal affairs for the SuperSonics from 2005-07, handling issues including licensing agreements and employment contracts.
"He has been the most sought after NBA executive over the past couple of years,'' said Blazers coach Nate McMillan, who worked with Cho in Seattle. "He can get deals done and make things happen.
"Next steps will be to finalize my coaching staff. I hope to make that announcement later this week''
Cho, who also has worked at Boeing, is a graduate of Washington State. He attended law school at Pepperdine.

Bulls sign CJ Watson:

http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nba/news/story?id=5393968

Nice player, should be a useful backup to Rose.

Juwan Howard has also signed a contract with the Heat - Bosh, Z, Howard, Magloire, Haslem, Pittman, Anthony now all under contract completing the 12 man roster with Wade, James, Chalmers, Miller, Jones. I think the minimum number under contract is 13 so they must look to sign a PG now surely?

I think it'll be Arrayo and Williams, and they'll send Pittman to D-League.

Yeah as I said a few days ago Pittman is carrying too much weight, wouldn't last more than a minute or two in the NBA and with some heady veterans signed up he seems to be a long-term project signing.

I'm hearing Finley and/or Stackhouse are being looked at closely by the Heat and Arroyo should be re-signed this week.

Also hearing that Jefferson close to re-signing with Spurs on a long term deal.
