I watched the Magic and Pacers game online.

Darren Collison looked good for Indiana at the PG, VC played well in his 20 mins, he had 25 pts 6/8 from 3 pt land, he looked fit and fresh, that will be the key for Orlando, to keep VC healthy.

D12 hasn't improved his free throws, he was ordinary, Lewis played at the 3 with Bass and Anderson sharing the 4.

Todays Pre-Seasons results.

Orlando 135 - New Orleans 81
Boston 91 - Toronto 87
Houston 93 - Cleveland 99
Golden State 95 - Sacramento 86

I know its only a pre-season game, but gee the Hornets are ordinary, how long till the Chris Paul wants to traded starts up again, he wont be winning an NBA title their any time soon.

I still can't believe they gave him away on his rookie deal.

Ariza is good but he could have been had for less surely!

Same here. And even if they did trade him, I figured they could have gotten more than Ariza.

Maybe it was made to appease Paul? Who knows.

It's one pre-season game so let's not get carried away. I think the Hornets are going to surprise some this year. A starting 5 of Paul-Thornton-Ariza-West-Okafor is pretty darn good, a couple of decent defenders, some shooting in Thornton, West and Paul doing their thing. Nothing on the bench but if their starting 5 stays healthy they're going to win plenty of games. In particular I see Ariza's shooting numbers recovering from last year's slump as he settles into the third or fourth option. And if Bellinelli starts in place of Thornton, they'll have some scoring punch off the bench.

I don't think it's enough to convince Paul to stay, but I think they'll make the playoffs.

Interesting to see Bobby Simmons working out for the Spurs. A handy 3-point shooter, particularly from the corners, low-turnover and can hit the mid-range jumper as well. If he can lift his defensive play he would seem to fit the mould of the typical Spurs small-forward. Would also be funny if he gives them roughly what Jefferson does at 1/8th the price.

I noticed Bobby Simmons is now at the Spurs, also interesting to see Darius Miles is back again, this time with Charlotte.

That's a fair point. It was only a couple of seasons ago that they went 56-26 and were taking the Spurs to a game 7.

I just thought they could have gotten more for Collison.

Yeah agreed on that point. But he was their only real trading chip so they had to do something. Surprised they didn't just go for Courtney Lee themselves, instead of bringing Houston in to the trade, as he's younger and cheaper than Ariza and not much different ability-wise.

They've got Peja's expiring $14m contract to wave at teams in February trying to get under the tax, but it probably means they'll end up saddled with some other bad contracts. Or they can just wait until next summer and see if they can get a second tier free agent seeing as they'll have a bit of cap space (particularly if David West opts out). Any which way you slice it, it doesn't look good long-term.

The thing is the Hornets are as broke as the sharks if you believe what you read. I don't see them flipping Peja for anything bar other expirings and maybe a little salary back. Imagine if they sent Peja to denver with picks for Melo? Paul-Ariza-Melo-West-Okafor! Or start Thornton and bring Ariza on as a 6th man.. Hmm Might have to do that on 2k11!

I really wish the Hornets could get it together and get some money because they have the makings of a good team and I loved them back in the 90s with LJ, Muggsy and Zo

The Hornets could soon be under new ownership as a dude name Chouest is in the process of buying the franchise from Shinn, although it's a bit hazy atm as to whether the sale will actually go through.

If the sale did go through, I would if it would strenghten their financial position?

Funnily enough I was mucking around on ESPN's trade machine earlier on that very trade. Peja + Thornton + Pondexter + picks + cash for Melo. Two ok young players, a pick or two plus cash for an alleged superstar? There would be better offers out there though I'm sure.

I think Chouest is richer than Shinn but whether or not he'll spend more is anyone's guess. Wonder if Chouest is delaying the purchase to avoid this year's luxury tax bill? After this year their salary position should be a bit more manageable.

Anyone seen Birdman's new tattoo?

Ugly ink is in at the nuggets - look at Smiths newest swish tatt

Superstars usually get moved for 30cs to the dollar to that Hornets offer is realistic. I don't see them moving him to another western division team though unless they are blown away.
