Jawai is out of the league now hey? Is Mills still on Portlands books?
I still can't believe they gave him away on his rookie deal.
Ariza is good but he could have been had for less surely!
It's one pre-season game so let's not get carried away. I think the Hornets are going to surprise some this year. A starting 5 of Paul-Thornton-Ariza-West-Okafor is pretty darn good, a couple of decent defenders, some shooting in Thornton, West and Paul doing their thing. Nothing on the bench but if their starting 5 stays healthy they're going to win plenty of games. In particular I see Ariza's shooting numbers recovering from last year's slump as he settles into the third or fourth option. And if Bellinelli starts in place of Thornton, they'll have some scoring punch off the bench.
I don't think it's enough to convince Paul to stay, but I think they'll make the playoffs.
Funnily enough I was mucking around on ESPN's trade machine earlier on that very trade. Peja + Thornton + Pondexter + picks + cash for Melo. Two ok young players, a pick or two plus cash for an alleged superstar? There would be better offers out there though I'm sure. The thing is the Hornets are as broke as the sharks if you believe what you read. I don't see them flipping Peja for anything bar other expirings and maybe a little salary back. Imagine if they sent Peja to denver with picks for Melo? Paul-Ariza-Melo-West-Okafor! Or start Thornton and bring Ariza on as a 6th man.. Hmm Might have to do that on 2k11!
I really wish the Hornets could get it together and get some money because they have the makings of a good team and I loved them back in the 90s with LJ, Muggsy and Zo
