Surely that wont happen.

I think Lebron will stay at Cleveland or go to the Nets, he told them to clear some more cap space to fit another max contract, so the Nets are trying to move Kris Humphries, that will clear another 3 mil.

Not if they keep Dolente West there, I'm sure he doesn't want a team mate who is doing his mum.

Amare is also definitely out of the Suns as I believe they have renounced his bird rights

My predictions are

Lebron-Bulls
Wade-Miami
Bosh-Nets or Houston
Stoudemire-New York (Nearly confirmed)

Poor Hawks

Free agent Joe Johnson is staying with the Atlanta Hawks, his agent said in a blog published in the Huffington Post website on Sunday.

Arn Tellem, Johnson's agent, said that Johnson was impressed with the team's commitment to him and agreed to accept the club's six-year contract offer. He confirmed the post to The Associated Press.

Atlanta offered Johnson, a four-time All-Star, approximately $119 million over six years -- nearly $27 million more than any other team could offer.
The Hawks would not comment, citing the NBA's moratorium on signings. Deals can't become official until July 8.

"When the free agency period kicked in, Joe made a point of talking to the Hawks first," Tellem wrote in the blog post. "Their owners and new coach, Larry Drew, impressed Joe with their commitment to making the team championship-caliber. In turn, Joe felt equally committed to the Hawks, his teammates and the city of Atlanta."

No sh*t Johnson is impressed with our commitment to him - we're paying him $120m!

Gah, it could be worse......somehow.

It's the typical conundrum that teams find themselves in when deciding whether or not to re-sign 2nd/3rd tier players. Now without a doubt imo the Hawks know that Joe Johnson isn't worth a 6 year max deal. The Hawks problem is that if they just let him go, in the short term they are a worse off team plus they don't have enough cap space to really sign anyone good enough to replace him. Plus, from the casual fan stand-point, it makes it seem as though the organisation is not committed to improving.

Ideally the Hawks would just let him go and look to build around Horford and Smith. Even if they are a worse of team next year, they are in a much better position for the long-term. We all know, including probably the Hawks, that this contract is going to be a killer 3-4 years from now.

Philly went through the same thing with Iguodola, Wizards with Arenas, Bulls with Deng. We just saw the Grizzlies do it with Rudy Gay.

Ridders is right, but Johnson was always going to get a max deal. If the hawks didn't pay him someone else would have. The hawks have a good team and if they can keep building around it then they could give it a shake over the next few years. If they let Johnson go they have to retool again and may not get to where they are now again and waste Horford/Smith. They had to keep him or they would be like the 76ers a few years back. Borderline playoffs/not bad enough to get a decent pick... Least now they have a chance to do something if they can add the right pieces.

Also in 2016 you will have one hell of a trade asset

That is a good point; JJ was probably going to get the max of somebody, if not the Hawks. It just looks terrible because he we all know JJ isn't worth that kind of money. Who know's. Maybe the Hawks can now trade him to acquire an asset?

It's all about those expiring contracts

Anybody hear anything about this...

There's been rumors of a three-way trade talk between Golden State, Minnesota and the Knicks where Lee winds up with the Timberwolves, Monta Ellis comes to the Knicks and Al Jefferson goes to Golden State. Lee visited Minnesota yesterday and it has only $7 million in cap room, meaning he'd want a sign-and-trade.

I'm not sure I could think of a worse player to go to the Warriors than Al Jefferson. Maybe Shaq.

Yeah read a bit about it. Agree, can't really see why the Warriors would be interested in Jefferson. Wouldn't a straight swap of David Lee for Monta Ellis make more sense for both the Warriors and Knicks?
