Although this part of the article

Owners are seeking to redefine the calculation of basketball-related income, the pile of net revenues of which the players, under the current system, are guaranteed 57 percent.

Shows that they're trying to attack salaries in a different way

Magic would surely look to include Arenas or Turkoglu as a salary dump if they do trade Dwight. In which case, you're suddenly looking at up to $34m of incoming salaries. That would take a lot of players to match from the Thunder, the best deal for both teams being Dwight & Arenas for Westbrook, Harden, Perkins & Collison. Would a Maynor-Arenas-Durant-Ibaka-Howard team with no bench be better than the current Thunder squad?

Losing Westbrook would be just as much a loss to the Thunder as gaining Howard would be imo.

Howard on the inside and Durant on the outside would destroy any team, If Dwight wants to leave, the Magic will have to take the best offer that they can get, they might not have the choice to get rid of Arenas.

Remember Howard would have to agree to an extension for any decent offer to go through.

If the trade happened OKC would barely get out of the first round, it worked well for NYC didn't
it? I can only see Boston, LA and maybe Chicago trading for Howard and being better off post-trade

Bit harsh considering Amare and Billups were both injured. Judge that trade on how they go this season.

From what I've read Amare will only continue to get worse and miss more time through injury. One of the reasons the Suns weren't prepared to sign him to a long extension.

Apparantly Golden State have put an offer to Orlando.

Package apparantly includes Ellis and couple of other players & picks.

Rumours are also circulating that Gasol could be traded for Love and the number 2. Really good fit for the Wolves IMO and the Lakers would be somewhat decent as well - Love can space the floor next to Kobe & Bynum and Williams could be a pretty good impact player off the bench. Defensively they'd be a little worse as Love isn't much of a presence in the paint but they'd get younger and lower their payroll.

I'd pull the trigger.

I wonder if AI can get any offers after publicly begging for any team to take him, maybe a role/bench player for New York. Surely the Bulls would have a look? Their secondary scoring options rely too much of Korver knocking down 3's. He's 36 but if he's serious about taking any role, it seemed that way at Philly, he'd be worth a contract for
a veteran team.

I'd have him at the Hawks. We're probably not going to re-sign Crawford (unless it's on a small contract, which he's said he doesn't want), so for publicity plus some scoring off the bench I'd have him.

Why? He only missed maybe 6-7 games through injury last season.

Saw that.

Been reading alot of talk about the T-Wolves wanting to move their No.2 pick to get a veteran player and, when you think about it, it makes sense. Considering that they don't own their first round draft pick next year (Clippers have it) there's no incentive for them to suck next season.

It's a good offer, but I personally wouldn't do it. Gasol was one of the key components to the Lakers making 3 straight Finals. Would feel a bit hollow if we then just shipped him out.

The trade probably makes sense from a talent perspective but, on a personal level, I'd be a bit disappointed if it went down.
