The Warriors have offered free agent Elton Brand a five-year deal worth between $85 and $90 million, according to league sources.

The most the Clippers can offer Brand is a five-year deal worth about $70 million due to salary-cap restrictions - about $20 million less than the Warriors.
Brand, who had been close to re-signing with the Clippers, is expected to make a decision today.

if thats realistic then gee... The warrors have a pretty talented core so I don't think you can really ride it off if the money is correct

Would be a massive slap after he came out and said that he was only opting out so the Clips would have more flexibility, plus he lobbied for Baron. But, apparently announced tomorrow.

Warriors are good but no point guard anymore. The best we've seen of Brand came when Cassell was around, don't think he'd be stupid to walk into that situation.

they'll buy marbury out. I don't see it working as a trade as unless they take back a extra year to save the other team money but still I think they will just cut their losses and cut him.

76ers close to securing Brand!!! Wow, didn't see that coming. Unless Clippers up their offer, he's gone. Verbally committed to 76ers. That's pissweak IMO, he opted out on the pretence of re-signing for less to allow Clippers to pursue other free agents, he told them to sign Davis which they did and now he's off.

I really liked Josh Smith but if he was to come I thought they should move young/iggy as I feel all 3 are really SF's. Brand is massive even though he is 6"8.. Better imo to give Brand 14 mill then Smith even though if we couldn't get Brand I'd cough it up for Smith. I'm just glad the cap space did not go to waste like I feared it would.

I'd be seeing what we could get for Iggy in a S&T atm. Still needs outside shooting

Bingo - massive improvement if he definitely signs, but need to get a deep bomber to keep the C's & Pistons' defence honest.

Josh Smith is good but really you need a consistent threat down low and that's exactly what you've got. I never really understood why the 76ers would go for Smith, kinda seemed willing to spend the money for the sake of it, but to get Brand is huge.

I'd keep Iggy for now, see how this plays out.

i agree, signing Brand makes you much more of a contender in the east than Smith would, as talented as he is. While the circumstances are a bit dog, i can never rip a guy for wanting to maximise his earnings for the time he can. Its a big loss for the Clippers if true, a Davis and Brand combo, if both fully fit, would have been gun. Would have gone a long way to combat the hold the Lakers have on LA.

But they can match Iggy and Lou Williams now without much concern. They have a TE which they may try and use but I don't know if they get the MLE this year because they were under the cap? You have to turn down all the exemptions in order to get under the cap.. But you still get the Vets? The cap is confusing..

The reason for smith was to run teams out of the arena and bring fans in. But he was not the best fit...
