NBA Playoffs 2012

Jordan had to get past a lot of 60 win teams. It's getting laughable at this point.

You think Larry Bird wanted to team up with Magic after losing to him in the NCAA final? Hell no! Lebrick has ushered in a new era of bitch mentality.
Jordan, Magic and Bird were given great teammates. Lebron was given Mo, Ilgauskus, over the hill ancient Shaq, and Wally f**king Szczerbiak.

He wasn't given good teammates. He had to go and find them.

And Wade is comparable, and in same cases deficient, to Kareem, Pippen, Rodman, Mchale and Parish (and you can add Parker and Ginoboli to that list of championship teammates). Lebron is now in a comparable situation to all of the all time greats of the modern era. They just happened to be lucky enough to get great teammates where they were. Lebron was forced to go and find great teammates.

On topic, god damn the Spurs are good. If you wanted to teach someone what basketball is about you'd show them the Spurs in this winning streak. Almost every single play down the court each player knows exactly what to do and when to do it.

Both the Spurs and Heat will win in 4 or 5. It will set up an interesting finals. The Spurs would be heavy favourites, the Heat could not beat them 4 times by defending their way to victory, these Spurs are just too good. The Heat will need absolutely everything Lebron and Wade have offensively to outscore them.

If Lebron efficiently averages 35+ and Wade averages 30+, they'll have a chance.

f**k me, just joined the bandwagon have we?

The Heat will not win a shoot-out with the Spurs - as this WCF series is proving, no team is going to win a shoot-out, they're too good. Spurs were ranked first in offensive efficiency during the regular season and have kept that up for the most part during the playoffs. Conversely, the Heat were ranked fourth defensively during the regular season, and that's how they won last year and have won this year - with their defence. They're leading all playoff teams BTW for defensive efficiency. That is their M-O.

Christ, according to you, LeBron & Wade going for 65 will cut it against a team that is averaging 108.7 points per 100 possessions in the playoffs - who else on Miami is combining for 45 points genius? Even if they slow it down to a 90 possession game, Heat support cast need to combine for 35 points to outscore them.

Only a team playing elite defence will stop this Spurs team. The Heat are an elite defensive team (as are Boston), and as I originally said, I think they have the personnel to really match up with the Spurs.

Boston got Parish by trading away & McHale by drafting smh Boston went from a 20 win team to a 60 win team they year Bird finally arrived after finishing college WITHOUT Parish & McHale. He was ROTY, East All Star & defeated in the ECF by the great Sixers team of Dr J, Mo Cheeks & Bobby Jones. What great team stood in the way of Lebrick these 9 years? The great Magic  Jordan got stopped by a great Pistons team, Bird & Magic stopped each other plus the Dr J Sixers stopped both. Nobody great has stopped Lebrick. I'd the holy trinity can do what they did against great competition like they did imagine what they'd do to the teams who Lebrick has gone MIA (even quit) against

You don't even realise what makes "your" team good.

Not sure "Spurs" and "lock it down on defence" belong together anymore. Thunder are crushing it offensively in this series, they just can't do anything at the defensive end of the floor to halt the Spurs - I just feel that the Heat have the personnel (on paper) to make the Spurs work harder for their points is all.

As for Wade or James sitting - like they're doing now - they will be be playing upwards of 44 minutes a game if they make the Finals, and I wouldn't be surprised to see tham play close to every minute if they had to.

"Depth of bigs on the Spurs bench" - Bonner, Diaw & Blair aren't shot-blockers, Duncan has lost a step, Splitter is still learning where to be so I can't see how packing the paint will impact the Heat personally. Thunder got back into this game at the start of the fourth by attacking the rim with Splitter and Bonner as the bigs for the Spurs - imagine what Wade & James would do?

I'm by no means a Heat fanboy I just look at the rosters and think they match-up as well with the Spurs as any other team, and better than this Thunder team.

I reckon the lack of D is more to do with the pace of the games against OKC. IMO the finals will be a completely different blue print - both sides will do a greta job of defending in the halfcourt.

I reckon 44 minutes of carrying an offense and defending rotating fresh players off the bench will take its toll on the Big 2.

With regards to the bigs - I just think the Heat are so poor that by default Splitter, Bonner, Diaw and Blair will have a pretty big impact. Bosh coming back will help - but he seems to be nothing more than a jump shooter at this stage.

Also, I think if the Spurs grab the first two games at home then the Heat become very fragile mentally. Knowing they have to win 4 of 5 - I just can't see them getting over that hump.

We shall see in two weeks though my friend.

Try beating the Spurs with your defense and you have about a 1% chance of winning.

Get Lebron and Wade to go fast and go hard all game long and your chances improve, still underdogs but a slightly better chance.

I can't believe you expect "your" team of bit and role players to outscore the offensive juggernaut that is the Spurs. I can't believe you don't understand what it is that makes "your" team win - well I can believe that actually. Like most Heat fans, you've just jumped on the bandwagon.

Boston started very strong, Rondo had a great first half, Wade had a shocker.

But here come the Heat

Heat got the lead in the 4th, Celtics rallied and Ray Allen ties it with 40 secs to go with a big 3.

Lebron had 2 chances to win it at the end with a lay up and final shot, missed both.

Overtime!!!

Looks like refs are doing all they can to get Miami across the line, Rondo just got smacked in the head and no call

Problem with that is Wade and LeBron aren't superheroes. They're both the primary scorers and playmakers, so one or the other is generally a major factor in every trip up the court. If they boost the pace for 40+ minutes they'll be gassed out after a couple of games - meanwhile the Spurs have a multitude of wings they can bring in to keep up the pace.

The Heat will have to absolutely trust in their halfcourt sets in this series for mine. I just don't see that working out for them with the inconsistent jump shooters littered through their team.

My predicition for today is the Thunder to storm out of the blocks - with the Spurs slowly nipping away at the league before taking control in the 4th.

5 technicals game 1.......47 free throw attempts to 29 game 2.......lol

No doubt the Heat are going to draw more whistles over a series but an 18 attempt disparity? Gotta love the NBA

Haha. We could see some serious phantom fouls in the Finals series - 2006 Redux.
