Good decision, Brown needed to go. He was in above his head. Installing this system with a point guard like Nash was a failure, his rotations were absolutely ridiculous and he had no idea how to adjust during games. Yeah it's been 5 games this year but Brown had issues last year, better to happen now than later on.

Also, I don't think the Lakers do this unless they know they have a big name coming in, Phil??? I doubt it but please!!!

Damn. Like Mick, I''m no fan of Brown but I figured he would have been given more time than this.

Things escalated really quick. Remember reading yesterday that his job might be in trouble if the Lakers did poorly in their upcoming 6 game home stand. And now he's already gone. Byrd's probably right in that they have someone lined up.

Hmmm, not sure how well D'Antoni would fit with this Lakers team, even with Nash on the roster. A large part of the SSOL Suns success was their great 3 point shooting, which the Lakers are really lacking.

Offense of the Lakers isn't actually too bad atm, it's the defense that is killing them. MWP is probably the best perimetre defender atm, but he's so bad on offense that he almost takes away as much as he brings to the table.

LBJ one assist short of a triple dbl.. that's about 3 games where he's just pulled up short..

Man I love NBA league pass..

Very sloppy 3rd from Spurs but ended up cruising in the 4th
Patty Mills had a good game, 8/9 shooting for 18 pts

I can't see any option for the Lakers except Phil Jackson, Mike D'Antoni / Brian Shaw are both good coaches but I just don't see them having the impact on the Lakers that P.Jax will.

Facts:

9/11/12 - Phil Jackson cancelled his attendance as a spokesman to an event next week
9/11/12 - Phil Jackson travelled to L.A
10/11/12 - Phil Jackson met with the Lakers organisation at Staples Centre to discuss him coaching L.A

Hopefully he's not asking too much money and we can get the deal done sooner rather than later.

If the Lakers cant get Phil, the next best option is Nate McMillan imo. He'd be far an away a better option than anyone else available.

Kevin Martin has quietly been excellent for the Thunder so far. 18 ppg on 48 FG% and 51 3PT%.

It's going to be interesting to see how the Harden trade plays out for the Thunder. Of course we can't fully judge it until we see what the Toronto pick ends up becoming.

It was a trade done for financial reasons, not for basketball reasons. The best thing basketballwise for this season and probably the next few was to keep Harden. Financial reasons got in the way of that.

Harden wasnt demanding out, OKC wanted to keep Harden (they offerred him quite a bit) and the team was the 2nd best in the NBA.

OKC definately didnt get better, they potentially can get better through the draft picks, but thats a pretty big IF, they will be lucky to get someone with similar talent to Hardens imo.

This trade was OKC doing the best with a bad situation, not trying to improve.

IMO they are unlikely to become a better side then last years side for atleast 2 or 3 seasons, even then its still unlikely, so I don't like the trade for them.

I can somewhat understand why the Lakers front office decided to pass on Phil, given all the conditions to his accepting the job;

Lakers ultimately couldn't stomach Jackson's contract demands to return, which were believed to include a salary ranging from $10 to 15 million annually, significant say in personnel decisions as well as his eventual replacement along with the ability for the 67-year-old to skip selected road games.

Probably the best move possible for Nash, as even in a triangle-like offense his influence would be limited.

Defense is still the issue for this team though.

For Phil Jackson, you make those exceptions!! But it is what it is, lets hope Pringles can get the job done but he has to win me over
