Dont like it. Surely they couldve got more for Peja and Bayless.

I can see where your coming from. I thought they might be more interested in looking for a big, given the lack of front court depth. I guess Anderson would give that, although he's not really the type of big I had in mind.

It's not an awesome trade but it's not bad either. Andersen is soft as butter, but for 10 minutes a night as a fourth big he's not too shabby. Should excel with Paul in the pick and pop, especially if he can start knocking down the 3 a bit more (look at Jason Smith's strong start to the season for the benefits of playing with Chris Paul).

Jack has had a poor start to the season, but he's a better shooter than Bayless so should be able to play alongside Paul for stretches.

Peja was always getting moved and really, he was never going to bring much back. What I don't get is why the Raptors made the trade - suppose they'd rather have the younger Bayless than Jack but it doesn't make a huge deal of sense.

Man Z-Bo has absolutely slaughtered the Heat in this second half, hes made Bosh his bitch. One of , if not the best individual performance Ive seen this season.

Agreed. You would think a team such as the Knicks would have loved to get Pejas expiring contract for the Melo chase. Plus Bayless is pretty nice off the bench! I'm guessing they didn't want to take back any salary and saved some bucks right now.

Bad knees have kept Anfernee Hardaway to off the court, but he's still not ready to give up on his NBA career.
Hardaway, 39, still feels as though he could contribute to a winning team.
"It's not about money," he said. "I saved my money, have all the money that I want. God has blessed me with that. It's really just the love of the game."
After a brief stint with Miami in 2006, Hardaway is waiting for another chance.
"I still love the game and I feel like I deserve that chance, but at 39, everybody's looking at the age," he said. "They're not looking at it as if I can still play.
"I don't have a lot of miles on my body because my knee was hurt for so long. But I feel like I can play a minimal role on anybody's team and help out. Role players now are playing 10-12 minutes a night. That's simple, man.
"My knowledge, my play-making ability, I can still knock down an open shot. I watch the game and still see things out there I can do to help teams, but who knows if that will ever happen? I doubt it, but I'll be ready if the situation did occur."

Penny was one of my favs in the 90s but he needs to let it go. I really can't see any contender cutting a guy to bring in his dodgey wheels.

The Spurs have quietly moved to 11-1. Impressive considering Duncan's only been averaging 29 mins this season. If this keeps up, Duncan should be well rested for the playoffs. Scary thought.

Was thinking that myself yesterday too. And like the Hornets, no player is averaging more than 35 minutes a game.

And Haslem's injury will be a huge blow for them. Leading rebounder on one of the worst rebounding teams in the league.

Came across this article which gives some further information on the Hornet - Raptors trade:

http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/11/22/breaking-down-all-of-the-moving-parts-in-this-weekend%e2%80%99s-trade/

So from this trade the Hornets improved their side right now (Jack was clearly the best player in the deal), got under the luxury tax number for this season and have a $9m-odd TPE to use later in the year if they can sniff playoff success (I'm thinking Troy Murphy would be a good target although the Nets could get a lot more than a TPE for him).

Whilst I doubt they'll use that TPE (would put them over the luxury tax number again), that they walked away with the best player and another trade asset is impressive.

I still ask (as I did before) - what are the Raptors thinking? Is Bryan Colangelo alive?

The Raptors have no idea, Bayless is an ok player but not anything special and Peja has been done for a while, NO improves their bench with Jack so they just got stronger.

Pejas value is his massive expiring deal. They have like 25 mill in expiring deals and a 12 mill TPE... I think thats what they meant about "their core".

Plus it is easier to move one player at 12 mill exp vs 3 players adding up to 12 mill.
