if he is the 'next great big man' what is Griffin? cause that kid can flat out play to go along with his nightly highlights. Cousins has been good but, i would probably have him number 2 in the ROY race

DeMarcus Cousins is on a role atm. In his last 5 games, he's averaging 21.8 points, 9 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.4 steals on 55% shooting. Of even more importance perhaps, in that span the Kings have won 3 of their last 5 games.

The next great big man has arrived.
Love watching him play but hate watching him play. Love his ability but hate his attitude. Scowls, whines, complains way too much. If I had to bet on one guy to get punched out by a teammate in the next 12 months, I'd take Cousins.

I don't get why the Nuggests wouldn't be interested in Chandler, Fields, Randolph etc.

I think mainly because Favors is considered a better prospect then all 3 (not sure what's happened to Randolph).

I recall reading that Billups would want to be bought out if he was traded to the Nets. Did lol a bit at the thought of the Pistons (of all teams) facilitating a Melo trade.

Given how seriously the Nets are pursuing Melo, you'd have to think that they're confident that he'd sign an extension there?

Who wouldn't want Chandler though? Still young averaging 18 and 6.5, adept at SF and PF and shoots the 3 well for a big man when at PF.

If the Nuggets do trade Melo, they'll want a potential star in return (at least to sell to the fanbase). Chandler's nice, but he doesn't really fit that bill.

Another possible factor is that Chandler's going to be a restricted free agent at the end of the season, so Denver would have to give him a sizeable extension to keep him. Given the stats you mentioned, he could be in line for a decent pay day as well.

I think that's why someone like Favors, who's just begun on the rookie scale, would also seem more appealing.

He said he'll sign an extension with whoever he gets traded to, if you want to believe him.

I thought he told people he won't sign an extension with the Nets? He said he would sign an extension with Bulls and the Knicks but he might have changed his view on that.

I read about a month or so ago he was quoted as saying he'll sign an extension with wherever he goes, who knows though but I can't see anybody trading for him without an agreement to sign an extension to give up as much you'll have to give up to trade him you can't risk him walking unrestricted during free agency.

It certainly must be distracting for the Nuggets players and in the Kings game the commentators were really highlighting it and showing how Carmelo is playing too selfish.

I think the Nets will pay Chauncey the full 14.2 mil he's owed next year in the final year of his contract, Melo wants to play in the same team as Rip. I can't believe the amount pf players who are involved in the trade, 13 i think it is.

The Nets will have a whole new team lol, pity they'll lose Favors, i would of traded Lopez, he's been disappointing to say the least, he can't rebound.

I wonder how Denver will use Ty Lawson and Devin Harris, will Harris play some 2 or Lawson to stay as a sixth man.

From the players I saw in the supposed trade I just don't see why Melo would agree to an extension with the Nets.

Agree, can't see what's so appealing about playing with a 32 year old Rip and 34 year old Billups. Plus if it's true that Billups would want to be bought out if moved to the Nets, it just makes the Nets even weaker. How would they be any better than the current Nuggets team?

Guess it comes down to how much he wants to play with the Knicks vs how much he's looking for financial security. If he really wants to be a Knick, just refuse to sign an extension with any other team and stay with Denver until the end of the season (and leave as a free agent). But that runs the risk of him being exposed to a likely unfavourable new CBA, which would undoubdetdly cost him financially.

Nuggets want picks as well and Rockets have right to swap picks with Knicks this year and own Knicks' 2012 pick. The Nets (currently with the second worst record in the NBA) figure to have a top 3 pick at worst this year.

Which might also be a reason the Nuggets don't mind this trade stalling - the sooner Melo, Billups & Rip are at the Nets you'd figure they'd start winning a few more games - which might impact on that pick's position.

A young talent in Favors, decent players in Morrow & Harris (possible trade bait to a quasi-contender as well), plus some picks figures to be a pretty good haul. When you consider they can also trade some of their other expiring contracts in JR Smith, K-Mart for picks / players and completely rebuild they wouldn't be in all that bad shape.

Some reports indicating that if Melo & Billups go Denver want Harrington traded as well but neither Nets or Pistons want him, so they'd need a fourth team.

Love to see him go to the Hornets, they need some depth down there. Other than expiring contracts though they haven't got much to send back.

Cavs threatening to set a new lowest single game score of the shot-clock error against the Lakers. (49 by the Bulls in 1999). Through three quarters the Cavs have 41 points. They'll probably avoid it as the Lakers rest their starters but 12, 13 and 16 point quarters is abysmal.

Well they passed 49 at least..

And to think that people actually critisized Lebron for leaving Cleveland from a basketball situation perspective.
