One thing is for sure, in a month he will be forgotten and 2pac's legend will continue to grow.

I wouldn't be too sure of that if I was you. He was the most influential metal guitarist since Eddie Van Halen. His legacy lives through those he has influenced.

If you are just going to hate on him unjustly. You are just ignorant.

Sounds a lot like what you're doing.

Just a sample of his work...

Nice list. Now let's see who was ripped off in the process of recording this 'work'.

who do you believe in? - Jamiroquai / Manifest Destiny
keep your head up - Roger / Be Alright & Five Stair Steps / Ooh Child
dear momma - Joe Sample / In All My Wildest Dreams & Spinners / Sadie
I aren't mad at ya - Debarge / A Dream
Changes - Bruce Hornsby / The Way It Is & Strafe / Set it Off
Me against the world - Isaac Hayes / Walk On By & Minnie Ripperton / Inside My Love
Until the end of time - Stevie Wonder / Love’s In Need
Do for love - Bobby Caldwell / What You Won't Do For Love
To live and die in LA - Prince / Do Me Baby
Life goes on - O' Jays / Brandy (I Really Miss You) & O’Jays / Cry Together
Letter to my unborn - Michael Jackson / Liberian Girl
Happy home - Bill Withers & Grover Washington Jr. / Just The Two Of Us
Papaz song - Bill Withers / Soul Shadows

So original and hard hitting.

You guys are such a bunch of f***wits hijacking a thread. Ignorant f***wits.

Abuse - the final defence.

Disagreement is going to occur on any forum. Many have disagreed with the comparison of Tupac and the Beatles and while R69 can disagree politely you can't. We disagree, you counter. You don't have to resort to abuse.

Genius, this was a thread about 2pac's new album. you brought your anti 2pac sentiment in here and ruined it.

This was not and never was Beatles v 2pac

Just because you are a simple minded redneck who doesn't like any sort of music that doesn't include homosexuals with long hair and guitars.

Redneck??  You have no idea......

Yes I like AC/DC. I also have rather broad musical tastes. When I was younger I listened to Public Enemy and Run DMC. I listen to rock, some country and yes even throw the odd PE album on now and again. Some of what Tupac has released is quite good - I apologise that I don't hold his music in the esteem in which you do.

R69 made it about The Beatles. I disagreed. You singled me out. The thread had turned to shit long before I mentioned anything.

Well fine keep your opinions to yourself, you wont see me dissing ACDC especially in an ACDC thread just because I don't dig their music.

It is as simple as that.

stand by my comment, 2 Pac was to rap what the beatles were to pop

You would know Raiduh, I mean, you were 9 when he died

2Pac would never have become this popular if he hadn't died. I can't believe anyone disputes this. He was nowhere near the most talented emcee, even of his own era. I own "Me Against the World" his ONLY album that was met with unanimous critical acclaim (All Eyez on Me is pretty patchy, the posthumous ones range from sh*t to inconsistent), and it's pretty dull compared to the stuff coming out of New York at the same time. He certainly wasn't a musical revolutionary, maybe he saw himself as a social revolutionary, I dunno. Regardless, he died aged 25 with one excellent album and a couple of patchy ones behind him. That's his lot and always will be.

Let's face it, rap fans hook onto some new artist about twice a year. It explains 2Pac's huge popularity with the mainstream rap fans after he died. He was popular with the "true" rap fans, but wasn't exactly taking over the World with his music. To be honest, on the scale of things I'd rank him lower than Cobain as far as musical acheivement and whatever goes. Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" has often been said to have completely raised peoples expectations of music on general. What did Tupac do besides make some songs with stolen beats for wiggers and anyone from Cabramatta to nod their heads while listening to it. Saying Dimebag deserved to get shot was one of the dumbest things I have ever read. No one "deserves" to be killed regardless of how much you dislike their music, then you (DIEHARD), have the audacity to call other people ignorant. Well done genius :|

As far as what Thierry Henry said, he's right. One excellent album and a few alright/ok albums and that's basically all he had. Much like Nirvana in a way.

Just because you are a simple minded redneck who doesn't like any sort of music that doesn't include homosexuals with long hair and guitars.

As opposed to grown men wearing band aids on their face for no reason, while covering themselves in cheap jewellery while wearing their hats on all sorts of stupid looking angles. Not to mention the hand signals and shit. Word G

See, I hate it when people try to start up a rap vs rock debate. Myself, Ima rap fan, but I dont go sh*tting on rock. Hey, if you like that music, its your choice. I'll even go as far as saying Im a mild Cobain fan (thanks to a mate giving me a few Nirvana cds). But yeah, these debates always bring in the stereotypes. People should just appreciate others' talents, no matter what they are. Eg. Nelly, I mean, in my mind, his music sucks ass, but atleast hes making money in a "good" way. He aint dealin drugs. He aint stealing. He aint running a whore house. Appreciation, screw disgrimination. Come on people. 1.

Oh, and that bandaid thing.....I reckon he wore that for real the first time, from all them KRS punches his teeny bopper ass got lol. 1.

MILLWALL Of Doncaster was the one who said that first, and he said it about 2pac (that 2pac deserved to die).

I am a huge fan of 2pac, but he wasn't some god like some seem to be making him out to be. He owed a lot to the people who came before him in rap, not just because they made rap more popular, but because without them rap wouldn't have evolved to the point it was at where he could come in and succeed to the level he did.

However, that works both ways. The guys who have come along since owe 2pac a huge amount, he made rap more popular and more widely accessible than at any point in the past. And by doing that he ensured the messages in his songs reached and touched a larger amount of people. And that was one of the keys in his music - the messages contained in his songs. Most artists who write songs with social and cultural messages don't get that much success, hence limiting the effect they can have. What seperates 2pac is his huge success, which spread his words to a larger audience.

He may not have been the best philosopher so to speak, and he may not have been the best emcee. But he was the best combination. And IMO, he had an ability to tell a story in his songs which nobody, past or present, can compare with.

I dispute the claim that 2Pac was THE driving force behind mid-90s rap, or that he was head and shoulders above everyone else in terms of popularity, etc. Maybe you can bring out some stats to prove it, I dunno, but it's just not how I see it. For example, if Nas had been killed back in '96, and 2Pac was still alive, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a generation of people idolising Nas and exaggerating his achievements, while taking a more tempered view on 2Pacs artistic ups and downs. Just an opinion.
