Fitzhenry is nobodies first choice but with Lui set for a return next week there is zero point bringing in a guy from outside the day to day structure of the top squad and asking them to fit in.

We just have to hope our pack dominates on Friday night. If we dominate in the middle than the shifting of Farah and Fitzy at will will not damage us as much as if we are stagnant without forward drive

I find it amazing that with WT having the benefit of 2 x State Cup teams plus the NYC we continue to have difficulty with emergency replacement from lower grades of a halfback.

Someone in a past thread made the observation that Sheens has the WT NRL 'in crowd' (say 25 odd players) so drilled with set plays that ity is impossible for someone to fill in from lower grades and take the opportunity. It has to be someone from the 'in crowd' as only they know the plays.

The analogy I think was WT are a F1 race car vs V8 Supercars for the rest of the NRL. When WT fire its magnificent but too much time spent off the track in maintenace compared the the V8's................. (Something like that anyway)

It was a great post and a great analogy.

Though its been said many times before, the loss of Prince spelt the death nell of WT being a genuine premiership force playing the style of football that Sheens (and the players themselves for that matter) wish to play.

The fact that 5 years later, at a crucial time of the season, the best that WT can come up with is Daniel Fitzhenry at 7 is a damning indicement on the coach and management as a whole.

Other, more professional clubs are no doubt sitting back having a good quiet chuckle.

Imagine all that firepower (Lawrence, Tiquiri, Marshall, McKinnon et all plus a wide roving Ellis and Heighington) being neutralised by having to orbit possibly the least capable player in the NRL.

If the team list isn't another Sheens ruse (and boy is that getting old) and DF starts and plays at half, get ready for the most shambolic display in living memory.

I fail to see how we'll be any worse off than we were last week. Even if Fitzhenry is sh*t tastic, how can that be worse than Ayshford not even being involved. It's not an ideal situation, but at least we'll have some one in there who wants to link.

Who else is there? I said before the match last week that Ayshford would offer nothing and cough trys, which he did. 2 directly his responsibility... a 3rd could be argued for. I suggested playing a defensive second rower there and relying on the others for points... At least Fitzy can attack and, as mentioned before, is probably familiar with our plays. He's played plenty of half back so far this season and has looked alright for a fill in. Even if it was just shifting the footy properly for the other guys to have a crack.

Fitzhenry can be elusive in broken play and is reasonably proficient at running from dummy half, but at 5/8 he has nothing... oh aside from a grubber kick to Johnny Wilson. If he manages to 'shift the footy properly for the other guys' I'll be delighted but I suspect we're more likely to see doughnuts and wanton murder of overlaps.

I said we needed some one to catch and pass and to tackle. Ayshford did neither of these things. That he was the key man in the loss is undeniable, a quick look at the Dragons trys shows he was solely and directly responsible for some crucial trys.

I also said we're basically f**ked as we don't have a half in the squad, something I've said since our recruiting finished.

Fitzhenry HAS played half this year, at stages, and we HAVE won the matches. (FFS don't ask me which game(s), there's not a chance of me remembering).

Lazurus is sh*t house. I'm sick of people saying he didn't play half because he didn't defend in the middle. He played half, the way the WT play a half, and he was awful at it. Not only did he f**k up everything he tried, he constantly ran through the middle of every one else's plays.

Sure, he probably didn't know what was going on, but if we're going to train some one up, can we get some one bigger than a toy doll?

Havoc.... I agree with you, but do we really have a better option? Is Waters an NRL premiership winning half? Should we back end the f**k out of a contract to get Finch?

We have 3 grades. Why the hell can't farkwit pick a 6 or 7 in those grades who play in these specialist positions week in, week out. Throwing in an Ashyford or a Fitzy doesn't work because these guys don't play in these positions week in week out. Waters, Nichols, Lazarus ..these guys have to make crucial decisions have the vision... that's why they are picked in these positions. Moving Farah weakens our most potent attacking area.

You got to know when to hold it, know when to pass it and know when to kick it. Ashyford and Fitzy don't have a clue.

Lazzo didn't fail, he was farked around abit. He does need to work on his size/bulk and "D" though.

Waters dropped a ball from a scrum. If you wanna hang the bloke for that, you obviously haven't played the game before. It's understandable to drop a ball in your first FG game, but what is inexcusable is playing 10 years in first grade and doing these mistakes.

I'm all for giving young guys a decent crack before I get the noose out.

Maybe its his size (ala Gallant's issue with Teflon) or he disagrees with Teflon and has gone into his bad books who knows.

Certainly Lazarus's 2 (?) games filling in in the main squad this year were no great shake but he was shifted about from position to position and not allowed to settle.

It would seem reasonably certain that he will not get a further contract extension for 2011 and beyond at WT.

Its not what you know its who you know...Lazarus...Florimo...Sironen..The only decent one out of those 3 is young Sironen....

Not hanging Waters he was only on for 5 minutes...just saying he dropped the ball and his not young...his the same age as Liam Fulton and Bryce Gibbs having played in the same SG Ball team in 2002.

Lets give Waters a decent crack like Lazarus got and see how he goes...he can't be any worse...Lazarus was embarrassing Sheens couldn't find enough places to hide him.
