CCC!

THE Warriors have dumped Puma and signed up with the iconic Canterbury of New Zealand as their jersey sponsor for next season.

The masterstroke is believed to have been signed off by Warriors CEO Wayne Scurrah and his Canterbury counterpart Hugo Venter in the last few weeks.
Earlier in the year, Sunday News revealed the club had put its clothing manufacturing deal up for tender ahead of the 2009 season.
According to Scurrah, at the time Puma had been "interested" in continuing as the club's jersey manufacturer.
But the Warriors have opted to sign with Canterbury famous worldwide for its CCC logo from the time the company sponsored the All Blacks in the '80s and '90s when they were known as the Canterbury Clothing Company.
The partnership is a great look for the Warriors who will now join the illustrious company of the Springboks, Wallabies, both State of Origin sides and EPL outfit Portsmouth as Canterbury-backed brands.
The Warriors have had their jerseys manufactured by Puma since 2000 but the current deal lapses at the end of the season.
What the club's new strip will look like is still a trade secret.
Earlier in the year, Scurrah hinted next year's Warriors strip would look quite different to the uniform donned by players against the Broncos last night. However, he stopped short of saying the club's colours could be set to change.
"I think the maximum life of a strip is three years so we are due for a change in strip anyway," said Scurrah.
"Each club has registered colours with the NRL so you have to go through a submission process and if you want to deviate from them you have to sign off on a few things.
"Certainly, there will be quite a few differences to this year's strip but I don't want to pre-empt the launch.
"We are looking at some ideas.
"I'm pretty sure the NRL doesn't like teams to have the same jersey for longer than three years.
"All the clubs change their jersey around the same timeframe."

yea i agree, Puma's been good. Canterbury have a good nack for producing good looking strips that are wearable outside going to the game. Looking for to seeing the new strip1

Well done Warriors, its about time.

Its worth noting that Canterbury produce all of the CORL merch as well and the heritage jerseys are quality.

I've got the Warriors heritage jersey, lovely peice of kit, the old-school cotton material is much nicer than the modern shiny stuff for everyday wear. Probably not as practical for an on-field jersey.

As long as it doesn't feature the stupid bra effect that seems to be on the current CCC jerseys

A bit of a shame to see long time supporter Puma going, especially as they are an international company - as are CCC these days.

Puma will still be doing the boots, though.

PUMA has extended its nine-year association with the Vodafone Warriors by signing a new three-year sponsorship deal with the club.
After outfitting the Vodafone Warriors with their apparel and footwear since 2000, the global sportswear giant’s new contract will be focused on footwear.
“PUMA has done a fantastic job for the Vodafone Warriors for nine years and we’re delighted to extend our relationship into a 10th season and beyond,” said Vodafone Warriors chief executive Wayne Scurrah.
“Since becoming associated with the club, PUMA has consistently demonstrated the highest levels of professionalism and has given the Vodafone Warriors a look that we believe has been one of the strongest of all NRL teams.
“PUMA has been associated with success at the club, its brand appearing on our jersey the only time the Vodafone Warriors have appeared in the NRL grand final until now (in 2002).
“PUMA provides us with a product of the highest standard and that will continue to be the case with this new contract.”
Paul Mendel, Country Manager for PUMA, welcomed the extension of the company’s association with the Vodafone Warriors both in the National Rugby League competition and the National Youth Competition.
“PUMA is proud to announce the continuation of its long term relationship with the Vodafone Warriors,” said Mendel.
“The extension for 2009 and beyond further allows the brand to showcase its innovative Team sport and Sport lifestyle products in association with a premiere NRL club.”
The new PUMA deal will see the Vodafone Warriors and the Vodafone Junior Warriors outfitted in PUMA boots and casual footwear.
The club also announced that Kiwi manufacturer Canterbury of New Zealand had been signed as a new major sponsor and official apparel supplier.
Canterbury has a long-standing involvement in rugby league as an apparel supplier to both the New South Wales and Queensland State of Origin teams plus the Warrington Wolves in the English Super League.
“We’re extremely excited about heading into the 2009 season with our players wearing PUMA’s exceptional range of playing footwear and the outstanding technologies in our new Canterbury of New Zealand apparel,” said Scurrah.
Further details about Canterbury’s sponsorship will be announced at a later date.

Any chance the actual colour will change as well?
How many combinations can we have of black, white and silver?
Anyone would think the rugby,a-league,cricket and league team were owned by the same company

Am I right in thinking CCC were the makers of the Warriors jerseys when they came into the comp in 1995? If so, you don't generally see too many teams going back to a manufacturer they've flicked in the past.

Lol, apart from a couple of polo shirts, singlet, polar fleece and caps...don't have a Warriors jersey since the original Winfield cup one, opted for a Kiwi one instead. So I'll be interested to see the new CCC one. If it doesn't look/feel the bizz I'll stick to the polar fleece and buy the All Golds one instead!

Could always wear the Winfield cup one, it's still mint as I've only worn 3-4 times since '95...but with the bent tongue still there I don't want to tempt fate (And I swear I wasn't wearing it at the start of the year when we lost Wade, Pricey&Manu)

those CCC 95 jerseys are actually fetching good coin . we got a signed 95 CCC and i dont know what it'd be worth now. there was a half broncos-half warriors jersey put out by CCC to commemorate the first game, if you ever find one, grab it... better than the stock exchange.

Ive just moved home and on unpacking found my Warriors 95 players jersey...worn only 3 or 4 times....Mint but smells like cardboard box.
Also a Wests Magpies 91 or 92 "Masterton Homes"...A bit more used though.
