Maybe Widdop has bee signed to play halfback, I read somewhere that he played a fair bit of half in his juniors and excelled at it, but with Cronk and Smith in the Storm they had no need for his organizational skills and long kicking game. He might turn out to be more than just a ball runner with a good passing game, Price has had some success with moving people around the field (Merrin to lock, King wasn't a dummy half before he played for Price in the juniors) so I doubt it would be out of the question.

I seen Widdop play in the 7 in a trial match vs Canberra a couple of years ago. He was by far the best player on the ground. I thought it was Cronk until the next day when I was told he didn't play.

The Kasiano rumor won't go away. Not sure if there is any real substance to it but f**k me it would be great to see him in the Red V. Can't say I've heard the Matulino rumor though.
Would we have a gurnsey big enough for the big fella? In all seriousness can't see him leaving the dogs unless through cap pressure. Saw him at the Dogs Vs Sharks game here at Gosford and the Kass/Barba rumor seem absolute tripe, considering they were talking and high fiveing during warm up.

I'll be stunned if Prior is let go.
He's been a mainstay of the team under both Price and Bennett.
I sometimes wonder if people only watch us in attack. Without the efforts of guys like Prior and Rein in the middle defensively we would leak points like sieves.
This x 1000
I have been guilty myself of usually focusing on our attack rather than D. But a mate at work today said Rein was rubbish in defense lol. The kid makes 40+ tackles a game (in the middle of the ruck) with a very low miss tackle count, whilst giving away 20+++ kilos!..
People on here also knock him for his lack of attack. What the hell do they expect from him!? He's only played 1 full season of first grade, and is now forced to play >65 mins/game due to injury. Im surprised he has enough juice left to stand let alone make breaks, kick for touch and set up the multitude of trys that some here expect!
Anyone saying Rein should not be the starting hooker, or at least be in the 17 should give themselves a right good uppercut...

9. King
7. Widdop
6. Stanley
1. Dugan

The thought of that spine next year (If they can stay fit) is pretty mouth watering, We could go from struggling for points to being one of the strongest attacking teams in the competition.

at this stage not a lot, but watching some of the games he has played you can see that touch of class rein hasn't got.
rein deserves his spot at the moment but kings not far of

Reins passing game has nothing on Kings, But a fit hooker with an average passing game beats a hooker with a great passing game sitting on the sidelines.
Rubbish. Rein has thrown a few dodgy passes (largely due to fatigue), but the majority are quality, e.g. the pass to Soward to put the sword to the Tigs @ the SCG. King has thrown as many dodgy passes in 10 games as Rein has in 40. Both are great talents, with King being the more sizable, dynamic ball runner. But Rein has it all over him in toughness, fitness, defense, experience and execution.

I never said His passing game was bad, but if you think Reins passing game is above average for a first grade hooker you aren't watching the same games I am. I am a fan of Rein, but we have 4 good young hookers coming through the club in Rein, King, Cook and Garvey. If Rein re-signs with us he will be on the most money out of the 4, we can't keep them all and he's going to have some good offers from clubs like the Eels. If it means we get to keep King and Garvey, I'd let Rein go next year if it was up to me unless he wants to stay with the Dragons for less money than he gets offered elsewhere, in which case I'd say we would be stupid not to keep him.

I think Rein passing game is well above avg, albeit not the best. As a former hooker myself, I believe he has proven more, and we would get more value for money out of him than we would in King. Granted King has not played enough to make a proper decision, but there in lies my point.

Yeah I see where you are coming from, they are both good, and we'll have both next year if Rein re-signs for us anyway, I'm hoping we can keep them both.
