The most pleasing thing for me is that the club is actually buying quality first graders and premiership winners (or winner). I must say looking at the recruits already there's some current players who will be moved on. I think prior is in big trouble... Weyman? Stanley?
This would be my team:

1. Dugan
2. Morris
3. Beale
4. Farrell
5. Nightingale
6. Widdop
7. Chase
8. Weyman
9. Rein
10. Hunt
11. Frizzel
12. Creagh
13. Merrin

Bench: Thompson, De Belin, Harrison, king/Stanley/Fien, Mathews, prior...

Gees a lot of players will miss out!!!!!

I think weyman will move on. Creagh or Merrin to the front row. Joel Thompson into the staring lineup. I'd also like to see debelin get more minutes.

Fullback - Dugan, Beale, Cummins
Wing - Flo, Morris, Cummins, Quilan
Centre - Beale, Farrell, Stanley Brothers
Halves - Widdop, Beale, K Stanley, Drinkwater

Lock - Creagh, Merrin, JDB
Back Row - Frizzel, Thompson, Harrison, C. Stanley
Hooker - Rein, King, Garvey
Front Row - Hunt, Merrin, JDB, Weyman, Stockwell.

Shaping up well. I agree, another half and Prop would be handy.

Recruitment still to come - I expect to see a name centre and a prop signed after Rangi

Good solid squad but looks a little thin on props, and the good news is, you haven't gone out and spent ridiculous money on one player, job well done. And for the record, Dylan Farrell is a good sold centre, unfortunately for him, he has missed the last two offseason due to offseason surgeries, the kid can play and he reminds me in size, strength and skill of a young Justin hodges.

So based on our signings and who I would/wouldn't re-sign, this is our shape up for next year:

1. Dugan (semi-assumed I guess)
2. Morris
3. Farrell
4. Beale
5. Nightingale
6. Widdop
7. Drinkwater (obviously would prefer Rangi Chase if we get him, but Josh should be ready by then)
8. Weyman (definitely worth re-signing)
9. King
10. Merrin
11. Frizzell
12. Thomspon
13. Creagh

14. Cook
15. Hunt
16. Cooper
17. De Belin

18. Harrison
19. Vea
20. Matthews

There's still a few more to come through as backups, but I imagine that would be our strongest team at this point. I still question a combo of K.Stanley and Widdop, I just dont think they would be too compatible but I could be wrong. Similarly, Chase Stanley will be putting pressure on both centres to perform. I can't see us retaining Mitch Rein, I'm sure there is a couple of clubs out there who would have their eye on him, and we could pay for Cook, King and Garvey for the price we'd be save from him.
De Belin and Cooper would have to beef up a bit over the off season lol!

I think that this is pretty close to the mark, but for a couple of things - I'd imagine Harrison would get the nod ahead of Cooper, and Merrin and Creagh would switch.. Not sure if Weyman will still be here either

Somehow i think that we are more likely to have williams at 1/2 instead of rangi. It seems to dragging on too long as well as williams coming at a much lesser value so that we can chase a prop.

I think Weyman will go, but definitely add Jack Stockwell

I know he's a player that always sparks debate, but I know Steve Price rates Matt Prior - that mightn't mean he stays though.

It'll be tough to keep Rein, but if he ( or King goes ), Garvey will be backup in front of Cook.

I'll be stunned if Prior is let go.
He's been a mainstay of the team under both Price and Bennett.
I sometimes wonder if people only watch us in attack. Without the efforts of guys like Prior and Rein in the middle defensively we would leak points like sieves.

Maybe Widdop has bee signed to play halfback, I read somewhere that he played a fair bit of half in his juniors and excelled at it, but with Cronk and Smith in the Storm they had no need for his organizational skills and long kicking game. He might turn out to be more than just a ball runner with a good passing game, Price has had some success with moving people around the field (Merrin to lock, King wasn't a dummy half before he played for Price in the juniors) so I doubt it would be out of the question.

X 2 imo he is a must stay.

Completely forgot about Stockwell!!! My bad

as for Garvey vs Cook, I highly doubt Garvey will get the nod first in 2014 - he will need a year in NSW to get used to playing against the big boys. Cook is fairly versatile and would be fine coming off the bench, at least for a year.

Yep, this flexibility is key. I think Thompson is an outstanding buy, his ability to play backrow and centre will come in handy. Throw in Kyle and Beale for their ability to cover different positions and it looks good. Teams rarely have their top 17 available, having versatile players helps big time.

You forgot Widdop who is capable at half, 5/8, fullback and centre at 1.8 metres and 90 kg he's a reasonable size for all roles too. He's also a fair sort of goal kicker.

Interesting point you raised re Widdop at half...they were my thoughts as well...I wonder if he does possess a kicking game of note.
