And finally, a good news story...

http://www.thesundaymail.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5936,12159455%5E2764,00.html

IT WAS the innocent and heartfelt question of his eight-year-old daughter, Bria, that helped former rugby league star Brad Mackay to find happiness again.

And tomorrow, three years after the loss of his wife Joanne to breast cancer, Mackay will marry Tracy Tinker and begin a new chapter in his life that will see his family of three blend with her family of three.

Mackay, the former St George and Australian representative backrower, said there was no awkwardness in explaining to his three children his decision to remarry.

"My daughter Bria was always asking me, 'Dad, when are you going to marry Tracy?' " he laughed.

"I popped the question in December. It's a pretty quick engagement, but when you know it's right it's not quick at all."

Tomorrow, eight months after they started dating, Mackay and Tinker, a divorcee with three daughters, will marry in a private ceremony with their six children forming the wedding party.

Mackay's first wife, Joanne, died in July 2002 after a brave and dignified battle with breast cancer.

After two years of raising his children, Mackay ventured back into the dating game.

"It was never said between me and Jo, but I wanted to leave it a couple of years before I dated again," Mackay, 36, said.

"I waited about that long, then I started going out with a few mates and did the nightclub circuit. I went on a couple of dates, but when I met Tracy I knew there was a connection there.

"It really is exciting. We're both very much in love."

A terrific player and a great bloke. Good luck in the future Brad.

Good news. He's the most decent footy player I've seen, even if he was a Dragon.

Champion player, champion bloke, well done brad

Yes he is all of those.

Brad and I went to school together, and We played League together as well as cricket. He was too good at League, and was picked up at a young age, playing FG for the dragons whilst still at school.

My sister had a crush on the guy at a young age LOL. we had a Brad Mackay Shrine. My silly sister also went to the wedding and got some photos ..

At the brad mackay game each year, it's great to see the support he receives from his freinds, current and former players of the club.

David Nui the Bloke who started the US rugby league and whom brings out the Tommerhawks each year are best of freinds.

Good luck brad. :thumnn

Brad should be having another game of footy soon. There has been a trial organised between Brighton Seagulls A grade and a team of former Brighton greats, the 2 most notable being Brad and Jeff Hardy. Brad will be playing unless his fire brigade commitments mean that he cant. The game will be played at Scarborough Park in Kogarah on March 6th. Get down there and watch these 2 greats run around in their childhood colours and buy a few beers and pies to help support the seagulls.
Also if there are any former Brighton players reading this that would like to have a run in this side email me the details os when you played for the club so that we can check your bona-fides and i will pass it on to the organisers of the match.

Yeah Good luck to them both,

He was a great player for club and country.

But hey, I heard a whisper that he might slip on the boots again down south.

Just a whisper mind you. Psssts blue and whites called butchers.

Cheers
Quigs.

Thats a really good story, thanks.

I always love to hear about someone who suffered a great tragedy, turn his life around like that. Shows the real character of the man.

I've met Brad through my uncle, and i have to say he's always been a thorough gentleman. Good on ya mate.

my very unreliable source tells me that one former first grader who had a very suspect high knee lifting action is going to play and this might entice another former first grader who played with him to have another season. His career was cut short as we all know.

Now this gossip is coming to you from the tropical central coast of queensland and I am only getting this in dribs and drabs...... and I was sworn to secrecy so don't tell anyone.

Cheers
Quigs is leaving the building.
