The consensus of this forum is that the media is ruining the game, that the media is to blame for the Brett Stewart scenario, Greg Bird and [insert selected scenario here].

Voss is as qualified to comment on 1st grade grade Rugby League as any other punter. And vice versa.

If that's his opinion, well good for him. Most of us here have similar views on Sports journalists like Voss as he does on us.

Some of us are busy doing real jobs rather than professionally pontificating about something we've never actually done.

So what alias does Andrew Voss use here on LU :sarcasm:

In case you didn't notice I was including myself in the diatribe.

Given that Voss's supposed comments have now been alluded to, watch and see how the reaction on here boils over. He's entitled to his opinion and there's some validity to what he's saying (in that often people have no idea about the facts behind certain issues yet feel obliged to present assured comments on them), assuming the "quote" is correct.

By the way, my broader statements are about internet forums in general, not LU specifically. It's what they're famous for and it's why people who often bear the brunt of the negative hysteria are so cynical about them.

With all due respect to my fellow forumers, most of what goes on in forums is childish babbling, whinging and anonymous name-calling.

Intelligent, constructive discussion is definitely in the minority. It is completely understandable for "outsiders" to perceive forum users as footy nerds and tragics. A lot of forum users I've met are exactly that. A lot of forum users with thousands of posts (notice i'm not excluding myself from this) are completely incapable of socialising with their fellow human beings in traditional ways. Some of us can.

One thing that can't be questioned however is the passion that people on this forum have for the game. That is an invaluable thing.

Well, to respond sensibly to your post...

Doesn't football discussion usually consist of childish babbling, whinging, and name calling anyway? There are a lot of topics that get talked about on here - very few of them require actual constructive discussion.

And the 'incapable of socialising' thing was a bit much.

I'm certainly not talking about everyone when I say that.

I'm confident there is typically less childish babbling, whinging, and name calling in the pub when you're sitting with your mates talking about the footy.

Voss is an idiot and part of the reason I watch nothing to do with football on Ch9 except the games.
His fake voice and lack of knowledge of the game do nothing except embarrass himself

I think he is knowledgeable, but he tries to overcompensate for the fact that he was never good enough to play and that makes him come off like a dick sometimes, for example, last night.
