How is it that the chairman of Storm, Matt Tripp, can be the owner of a betting agency and also that Storm players as part of their incentive salary package can be given shares in a betting company....that has to be a massive conflict of interest on all levels, and yet apparently the NRL has signed off on the deal...no wonder they're all looking at going to Vegas...the whole league adminstration stinks!!
Fox is the owner, Tripp the CEO.

Wasn’t Laurie Daley told last year that he couldn’t be employed by Manly as a consultant because he was employed by a gambling firm?
What a crock of double standards

I think that the NACC should be looking at the full operations of the NRL and the people running it and the so called owners of the clubs and their sponsors.

I would also like to see an independent body of Auditors engaged in the scrutiny of all Club's salary caps and third party arrangements.

The whole lot needs investigating. How do we know if those guys in Melbourne are not having bets themselves on games when they would know movements in betting markets etc?

As you pointed out blacksafake, Laurie Daley couldn't be employed by Manly as a consultant as he is employed in an organisation dealing with gambling so what is the difference? I think it is worse for a footballer to get privileges and payments from a gambling company than what Daley could not get to do.

There certainly appears to be many crooked double standards being carried out that's for sure.

Hope we're offering thomson min wage or a low contract with incentives for extension if he plays certain amount of games. I don't want money tied up in mediocre or injury prone players. Also his injury is very serious, not sure if he'll have the same mobility in his return. On par & even worse than an ACL.

Not related to us but I thought worthy of some comment.
The Bulldogs have spoken to Blake Taaffe, the caretaker fullback of the Bunnies who is off contract at the end of this year. He would be a good purchase by the Bulldogs to replace an under performing Hayze Perham and the loss of Averillo to the Dolphins.

The Dogs backline will be strong with 1. Taaffe or Crichton, 2. Kiraz, 5. JAC, 3. Xerri, 4. Burns or Crichton. Spine of Crichton, Burton, Sexton and Mahoney.

If the Dogs cant make the top 4 next year, then Ciraldo would need booting out.

They might be trying to lure Tino from the Titans with a dodgy pub share deal as well.

Cheaters prosper! Honesty isn't the best policy!

The auditors wont find anything, the rich clubs seem to all have it down pat bar the occasional slip up.. I reckon its set up in a way that the players would think that its 'probably a legit third party payment', they wouldnt be putting players in a situation where they know theyre cheating, cause eventually that would catch someone out.

Dogs should definitely get investigated with all the guys they have in Addo-Carr who at the time was signed for 800k a season, Burton, Kikau, Crichton, Pangai, Mahoney, Xerri, Sexton, Olopau (500k release so surely would be on a fair bit), Sutton etc and to still have 2mil spare, sounds very dodgy indeed. All bought from other clubs so if they have to pay overs to get them as they have been quoted would all be on 500k+

That's why we have fallen so far behind the top clubs ...... What everway they are doing it it and getting away with it ...... Smart operators , not like our lot ...... We either go with them , if it means third party deals or what everway they are rorting the system , or they sit on their hands and just try to stay away from the spoon .......

They are still trying to figure out how to refill the paper on the fax machine....

I'm hoping Shane has some idea about this stuff.. how to squeeze a bit more into the contract.. that said hes never been a real recruiter bar that year here with us, but i dont actually know what he did that year..

That said.. most of this crap comes about because clubs have extremely rich benefactors willing to give cash away to see their beloved team win. Not sure we have any of that...

Shane will be keeping his nose clean though, he doesnt need more drama.. and maybe we will actually get a head of recruitment yet.. or atleast a pathways recruitment officer.. hopefully its Brown or someone and not Haran..
