Think Canberra dropped Vaughn for Paulo.. Surely they can't afford all these forwards? I'd take Vaughn any day.

The day I see Wighton's name in here is the day I give it away. I think there are 11 or 12 people in Canberra tonight.

Vaughn a plodder? Would take him any day on the bench for next year. Especially with our prop depth or lack of. We have a good record turning average/good props in to great ones.

I'd take him - hes 25 played close to 80 games. Props start to hit there straps around that age. Cant see him getting alot of game time with the Paulo and Tapine signings.

That props get better with age thing is BS these days. Look at the best props in the game

Andrew Fifita 26
David Klemmer 22
Josh McGuire 26
Aaron Woods 25
James Tamou 27

All those guys either picked 2-3 years ago or are in the middle of it now.

Compare it with guys like Nate Myles 30(who looks NSW cup standard), Ben Hannant 31(compare him vs when he was at the Bulldogs), David Shillington 32 (irrelevant for at least 4 years, spent time in NSW cup last year). James Graham is 30 and hasn't spent 12 years in the NRL running against brick walls.

If we can swap D.Fifita for Paul Vaughan that is a win. But if I am Canberra I am taking Paulo every day of the week!

Seems like Gallen is down

Cronulla captain Paul Gallen has put in a sales pitch for unwanted Raider Paul Vaughan, urging him to consider a move to the Sharks.

MORE: Vaughan unwanted at Canberra? l The Lurker - Casino curse strikes again

Vaughan was dropped from the Canberra side to play Manly on Friday night, with Ricky Stuart rushing new recruit Junior Paulo straight onto his bench.

It’s fuelled speculation Vaughan is on the outer following some ordinary form of late.

But Gallen, knowing David Fifita could be on his way out of Sharks, has made it clear the powerhouse prop would be more than welcome at the Shire club.

“Well, if he’s not injured and is looking for a club, get him to pick up the phone to Flanno (Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan),” Gallen told Triple M.

Gallen is a big Vaughan fan and is sure to talk him up further in the hope of luring him to the Sharks before the June 30 transfer deadline.

Also reports last night Tom Symonds is off to the UK. If we can grab Vaughan for 2016, we should. I don't see why the Raiders let him go early though.

Matt Scott is the best prop in the game and he is 30 and doesnt appear to be slowing down. Of all the other props you mentioned which I all rate(except for tamou) but how many could you say you have seen there best football. None in my opinion but fifita is putting a strong case forward that he is starting to enter his prime years.

Tamou is the biggest myth in the game. Don't rate him at all. Scott is twice the player.

On Vaughan, i'd take him in a heartbeat. Would be a great fit for us.

Hang on a sec. 5 or so posts ago you called him a plodder? Now the change of mind?

Of course if you had the choice, you'd most likely take Paulo over Vaughn. But we don't have that choice. Sign Vaughn, he'd add some size to our pack and would play well with our other forwards.

He is a plodder but he is an upgrade on D.Fifita or say Taga. If he joined the Sharks he would have to be ok with a bench role, which he likely wouldn't be.

Unless we're planning to put him in the top 17 I don't think there's much point in signing him.

I suppose if D.Fifita is going and Vaughn is coming to place him, I hope he's not expecting to get much game time.

Isn't he a benchy at Canberra? Or at least in and out of the starting team? He would be a great mid season signing. Our bench is crying out for another big man.
