Coote is a good ball player too but is not called on to be one very often because the Cows' other spine players all create things.

Let's call them even in defense, ball-playing, positional play, leadership and heart. I think Coote's kicking game is superior, plus he has more experience in big matches (and generally), plus it seems to me he's quicker.

There's no need to talk Moylan down, I think he's a very good young player. It's just Coote has an edge in a few areas and I can't think of one area where Moylan is the superior player.

I know I'd prefer a guy who has done it in finals over a bloke who hasn't been in any big games. It seems Moylan is getting more praise for being injured over the last 2-3 years. Coote should have been picked, or how about they just pick Dugan. He's average but at least you know he'll run the ball back. NSW have a zillion centres, could name Roberts, Morris, etc and that is a better way to do it.

I've seen Moylan really step up in big games, not finals but I remember him in a game against the roosters in the play offs 2 years ago. They're going with Moylan as he's a ball player, Dugan is without doubt a better physical athlete but doesn't have the technical skills that Moylan brings. I see Moylans future in the halves, NSW DO have players with vision and creativity it's just they're playing in a different position which is frustrating. Jack Bird was great last year in the halves but now in the centres, Moylan is stuck at fullback and so is Coote since he's resigned with the Cowboys. Austin looked good too last year but he's just been injured.

Injury cover for backs. Probably will stay on the bench for 80 mins.

Having a player on the bench solely for injury cover to the backs is a waste. Considering the intensity and pace of Origin you need to use all 4 bench players, especially this year with reduced interchange.

As to those people having a go at the selection of Jackson and Cordner, the problem has been that Daley has used both of them incorrectly. He has either used them in the middle when they are wide players (e.g. Jackson) or off the bench as an impact player when they are an 80 minute work rate type player (e.g. Cordner). That is why b9oth looked terrible last year as they were not used correctly by Daley at all.

Moylan has made 827m in 7 games. Coote 841m in 11

Fair to say Moylan is the better runner of the footy

Like i said before, theres really only a split hair between them.

I seriously doubt Coote is quicker than Moylan. Id give Coote the nod defensively, statistically they almost dead even but from what ive seen of the both Coote is more likely to come up with a trysaver. Moylan is certainly a better ballplayer then Coote I don't see how that is up for discussion. You can say Coote doesn't have to do it as much because of JT and Morgan but that doesn't mean he would be as good at it if he did, he looks good ball playing off those two but it becomes more difficult when you are the best player on the team and getting the most attention from the defence.

A GF or even a finals series is of similar quality. Coote did it to win a GF with the Cowboys! What exactly has Moylan done? If he was so good, I'm assuming Penrith won this week....oh hang on....

You appear to be assuming the team was actually picked since 4pm yesterday. It is much more likely it was picked last week sometime. If it were picked today or last night the players in teams playing tonight would be disadvantaged.

You don't expect all the Broncos players to be overlooked because the Broncos were beaten this weekend I don't suppose.

I'd have preferred Coote too, to be honest. But I do think Moylan has the superior ball skills and that is why he's got the nod. Ball skills are in very short supply indeed in this side. His good form is also over a longer period, ie since mid-2013, whereas Coote got back to his best only mid-last year after the best part of 2 years injured.

Moylan is the more dominant player in his team too so probably touches the ball more than what Coote needs to in a team with Thurston and Morgan

Coote is at his peak and a better positional game and kicking game. Coote also has Boyd covered in these areas.

Moylan better ball player similar to Brett Stewart.

If Coote is better positionally than Moylan then it is not by much because Moylan is never caught out of position, he is very good in that regard. Kicking game goes to Coote and he clearly is a better support player.

Not much difference I was originally Coote first but Moylan or even Dugan with these halves is a possibility. If you can't have a good kicking game with Maloney, Reynolds and Farah then you never will.

That's why Moylan isn't a guaranteed starter. The Dugan style fullback could still be used here but I hope they go with Moylan.

I don't think Moylan will start. If Cartwright is not injured as someone said earlier,he might just get a start.Put both on the bench and bring them on at opportune times when needed.

This Cartwright naming as a developing player just might be a smokescreen.Interesting if it is.

Happy to see James Roberts not picked, always hate it when Broncos play for nsw.

Besides that, it's the best team NSW has picked in years imo. You guys always hate the players that are picked.

Coote is hard done by but Moylan is the best ball player in the state. Add Reynolds excellent kicking game and I think they have got the mix right for once.

Agree it's the best team we've picked in years. But not exactly coming up against stiff competition there...

How would you feel about walker playing for the maroons?

the coote vs moylan debate is moot. Moylan is in the squad, Coote isn't.

when does Daley have to submit his match day 17? I assume that if the 18th or 19th man is from a club that has a game this weekend, he'd have to be released for it.

Otherwise, it'd be good for Daley to be able to release the details of his 17 on Wednesday next week. Like they do in international soccer where squads of 23 are selected and the manager releases his starting 11 a few hours prior to the match. Are there any ARLC rules in place preventing Daley from doing this?
