Dugan in the centres is such a bad liability and Josh Jackson is shit.

Sad to see that we will continue to suffer from the same shit.

Simplest thing would just be for Maloney and Reynolds to have a kick off to see who is the sexiest.

I will admit I don't know either player that well, but out is either of Jackson or Frizell up to playing a full 80 minutes? I only ask as looking at the bench, it seems likely that the second rowers will be expected to do just that as the props will be rotated to keep them somewhat fresh.

That said, if NSW lose the problem is not the onfield personnel. The problem is the people who picked them. Those are the heads that need to roll should kit arise. I dare all of us supporting NSW should remember that.

Frizzel plays 80 on the right edge for us every week. Sometimes shifts into the middle if we need it and plays less minutes (rare but it happens). A couple of years ago he played middle and didn't shine. These days he's a lot better there, but still a better edge player.

Jackson has played 80 minutes in all but 3 games this year. Once he got injured and had to go off for a while and the other two he played 70 and 75 minutes. Him and Cordner being picked has allowed us to go big on the bench and hopefully beat Qld up the middle

State of Origin 2016: NSW Blues Adam Reynolds and James Maloney waste no time getting down to business

1464166280100.jpg

Adam Reynolds and James Maloney had only just arrived at Coffs Harbour on Tuesday when they locked themselves away for a 90-minute video session while their teammates were out enjoying the sunshine.

The new halves pairing didn't waste any time getting down to business, working with debutant fullback Matt Moylan and hooker Robbie Farah to devise a game plan when Laurie Daley had given the rest of their teammates the afternoon off.

Maloney, Reynolds and Moylan are rooming together, and while the Sharks five-eighth has had a taste in the Origin arena in 2013, he believes Reynolds won't be deterred on the big stage given his feats at South Sydney.

"He is obviously stoked with the opportunity," Maloney said.
"He has been in the frame for a few years – there has been a bit of talk about him. He is stoked to finally get the nod. He has played in some big games before. It's not like he is a rookie. He has been around a while now so he will know what is coming.

"Kicking game is obviously very important and he has one of the better quality kicking games in the NRL. Hopefully we can nail that. I think having Robbie as an option to kick out of hooker – there's a few different options there – hopefully we can come up with the right options."

While Reynolds will do most of the kicking in general play, it's yet to be determined which of the two sharp-shooters will get the nod to convert goals for the Blues.
Maloney has done it in the past for NSW but the veteran playmaker insists he isn't fazed, happy to take the goal-kicking duties if Reynolds was burdened by the added responsibility.

"Someone said Laurie didn't know which way [to go]. It is not a big thing for me," Maloney said.

"I don't really care if I don't kick. If Adam was in a situation where he didn't want the added pressure of goal kicking, then I would be happy to. I think we're better off having a couple of options there rather than trying to work out who is going to kick. Whichever way it goes we have to make sure it goes over because every point is pretty vital in Origin. I don't know what we will do.

"The amount of times you have been out there kicking, you're thinking about a big stage like a grand final or Origin and a kick to win the game – it's what you do it for. That's part and parcel of it. It either goes over and you're the hero or it doesn't and you're the villain. That's the way it goes."

Reynolds has reflected on his ability to get the job done in the pressure-cooker environment of finals football, confident the experience of leading South Sydney to premiership glory in 2014 will serve him well come game one at ANZ Stadium on June 1.
"I think I am better off for it," Reynolds said.

"If you haven't experienced that before you can get caught up in the moment. As a team we're confident in each other and what we can do. We're just looking forward to bunkering down and concentrating on what we can control."

Asked whether he was picking Maloney's brain, Reynolds said: "Whether it is him or Robbie Farah, I have been having close conversations with him as well just about what it is all about. For us now it is about preparing."

The Blues released Josh Morris and Tyson Frizell from camp on Wednesday, with Andrew Fifita to get the bench spot.

this tactic hasn't been tried before.

Maybe, but Jackson has a lot more versatility. It is what hurts these one position players like Frizell. You like your bench apart from your prop reserve to cover a number of positions

it doesn't matter.

Gallen, Bird & farah will try and do it all themselves. 2 carries a set, 4th tackle first receiver plays, farah taking on the halves duty himself.

FFS! why can't anyone see that most players selected for NSW can't properly get involved because these stat-padders don't let them.

same old issue, series after series.

Who is he better than...he's unlucky but NSW have a lot of back rowers and he can only play there has little versatility

Gallen, Woods, Tamou, Klemmer, Fifita, Bird, Cordner. All can play as middle forwards.

Just play the best player in the position they are selected to play. Frizell is better than Jackson in a contest for right forward. When there are 7 other players above who can play in the middle, why the BS mentality of needing to select a bloke with versatility to cover other positions? Fact is, Jackson isn't the best right forward, and he makes a bog average option as a middle forward, an acting half, or a half. Another bog average player in positions other than right centre has also been selected as an interchange utility, further weakening the NSW squad.

Guys like Gillett and Thaiday might be versatile forwards, but more importantly, they're also the top 6 or 7 QLD forwards. That's the difference!

Cordner as a middle forward?! Mate he plays on the left edge at the Roosters and does not play in the middle at all.

he's played there. his ability to play in the middle and be a runner on the edge was important in Easts competitive years when they were running two backrowers on and edge in attacking plays.

but then again, graham is a better left forward so i wouldve gone for him over cordner too.

and lewis is better than both jackson and cordner on either edge, as well as a middle forward or other option.

Stat-padders. Now there is an expression I haven't heard much but do like.

Good to see NSW sticking with the forwards who got destroyed by qld in game 3 last year.

Why wouldnt lozza do that? He said in an interview aired tuesday that he still cant put his finger on it (why they got flogged). This is your brains trust. Good luck.

I don't like that they are already talking about Farah as a kicking option. He is average as a kicker

James Maloney's selection makes me want QLD to won. This guy sounds so dumb I actually hate him for it. Its like he takes pride in sounding as dumb as possible. I want him to get humiliated in this game.
