Jackson was solid in defence, but a passenger in attack. We got rid of Beau Scott who was identical to Jackson. Why bother? Scott is a better version of Jackson anyway.

But for years NSW has struggled to score points, so pick players who can break the line and create opportunities, otherwise, the results will continue to be the same.

NSW have to decide on a halfback.

Gallen is the incumbent but apparently Reynolds has claims.

Either way it is some bloody entertaining football.

Josh Jackson and Dylan Walker need the arse.

I'd bring in Luke Lewis and Bryce Cartwright

Josh Morris was average, bring in James Roberts.

Adam Reynolds needs to get his shit together, he's better than what he displayed tonight. Maloney went good.

The kicking game from both sides tonight was shit, but NSW was worse. And the last tackle options again were shithouse. Perhaps its time to consider a new coach for NSW. I don't think Daley is all that good. A series win over QLD minus Cronk (and with Daily Catastrophe Everywhere in his place) isn't really that great afterall it seems.

That is how Adam plays. Very strong defensively. Solid passing game and a good kicking game. He did have a couple of poor kicks though. Adam was solid. He will get better from that too.

His bombs forced QLD backs into errors which was good and a couple of repeat sets he got too.

Adam isn't a big runner of the ball. The Blues forwards weren't dominant enough though for Maloney or Reynolds to take the line on more.

Farah stifles the halves too by the way he plays and it's a problem.

Reynolds is better than what he displayed tonight. He wasn't as good as you are suggesting. He can be and is better.

His worst is still better than Carney/Pearce/Hodkinsons best, that much was clear.

If Reynolds needs his forwards to absolutely dominate in order for his kicking to shine it probably isn't going to happen for him in SOO lol.

His running game isn't a threat and his passing game is hardly any better

farah's kicking game was better than both of the halves. Found space, and forced dropouts and 50+ tackles. Not sure why he's copping so much hate
Maloney was solid. Should stick with him for rest of series.
Reynolds surprisingly coped alright in defence but was shocking with the ball. Kicking game woeful, and a few 5th tackle options had no clue. Not sure if we should stick with him
Moylan was ok, but I would prefer Tedesco.
Dugan to come in for morris
Moylan/Cartwright to replace Walker on bench
Forward pack is good but just needs to be utilised better. Coach's fault. Can't have both gallen and woods off for 30min.

Reynolds will be playing game 2. You'll see.

You are over exaggerating that he was bad when he wasn't.

He was solid but not at his best.

Adam had some good kicks too. He got a couple of repeat sets, those swirling bombs were hard to catch and Boyd caught them pretty much on his arse. Reynolds found the grass sometimes too. A couple of good long kicks too that turned QLD around. Cross field half bombs which QLD knocked on a couple of times.

His passing game was solid.

The Blues forwards did not get enough momentum for Adam to run it more than those 3 times he did. In fact no halves tonight on either side ran the ball much. It was greasy conditions which did not help so I disagree with you there.

There were 2 poor kicks though that released the pressure. But Maloney had a couple of poor kicks too.

Adam was very strong defensively too.

Overall I'd give Adam a 6.5.

The forwards needed to play better as I said. Moylan was poor as was J. Morris. Farah stifles things too much too which interferes with the halves.

1. James Tedesco
14. Matt Moylan

201. Dylan Walker

That's the only change I want for game 2.

Agreed but I'd add Peats for Farah and put Cartwright in there for off-loading ability as well. Peats would give much faster service at dummy half to get us on a roll. Farah = too slow. Cartwright has that x-factor that we need in attack.

But i thought Farah's grubbers were very good, so they'll probably stick with him. Moylan would make a much better utility than Walker.

We all know what Gus was getting at last night when he was saying "we weren't beaten". Undoubtedly, they were...but they were in it and up for it and just couldn't get the job done. The worst thing that they could do now is panic and make a raft of mid-series changes...which is typically what they've done, year after year, in their losing streak.

Bring in Tedesco and put Moylan on the bench. Get rid of Walker.

Shift Tamou to prop (ffs), Gallen to lock and call it a day on Bird. Bring in Cartwright or Graham.

I thought NSW was okay overall. There were some periods of sustained pressure but there looked like there was no gamelan besides the sweeping second man play with Moylan that QLD caught on to early

And all of the players were doing there own thing instead of combining.

Adam was average at best. His kicking was below his standards although he did find his moments. But it was about on par with any debut of a half in recent times. They all seem a bit in their shells in their first game. Good to see Maloney now finding his feet in Origin, I think he needed more involvement though

NRL.com named him NSW's best

But yeah, he can play better and I am sure he will if given the opportunity. And it's not as if there's an alternative knocking at the door.

This is the issue we keep going in circles over, trying a new player over and over again. Every half we select keeps coming up against the most experienced Origin spine of all time and the NSW half doesn't even get a settling in period

If there's one thing I've noticed, it's that it takes w couple games to find your feet in Origin. Look at what QLD are doing with Morgan. He gets better every game and will eventually slot into the halves as an already experienced player when the big 4 start retiring.

NSW are still relying on a strategy for selection that worked 15 years ago when we had Johns, Fittler, Daley, Kimmorley, Barrett etc

Totally. The QLD dynasty is not just about them having some of the best players of all time in their spine. It is about their unflappable temperament and the faith that they put in the blokes they select to do the job. NSW on the other hand....
