I own one LG product - my notebook. It's a piece of sh*t.

You too eh?
Mine just crashed on me for the 3rd time on me on Thursday.
Can't get back into it for the life of me. Looks like I'll lose all my data again!!

I'll be pissing it off very shortly.

ahhh

Same, same. Same but different.

Mine is lying dormant now after yet another series of fatal errors leading into a crash. Can't even format the disk. Just can't get into at all.

Are you getting a missing HAL.DLL error?

If we have the same problem maybe be should be storming LG together.

I heard a few years ago that LG was the old Goldstar brand with a new name. Because of that I never have nor ever will buy their products whether they support the Sharks or not. And from what you people have said on here I see no reason to change my attitude.

Yep, LG stands for Lucky Goldstar
They were a cheap Korean brand but as it seems with most Korean companies now they are trying to change their image from being a cheap brand to being a quality brand in their own right

Their sponsorship impacted on me, I'd usually never buy a Korean brand of anything (particularly cars) but I did buy the TV cos they sponsor the Sharks

The next product I want is one of those new hard drive/dvd recorders. Foxtel want about $500 bucks for their piece of sh*t which only has 80gb of memory. I was looking at an LG the other day with 160gb. I think they are going to get a lot cheaper so I think I'll wait a while. Anyone got one? What do you think?

I have a LG 157*I think its 152 or 157 I forget* up stairs - its hella cool and a LG sound system for it. Goes hard. Great for Sharks games. I think our fridge is LG also...

If LG stopped backing the Sharks I wouldn't try and buy LG as much as I do.

LG has been great for our club regardless of their products btw. I just hate that f**king white box on our home jumper

I bought 2 LG products a few years ago solely because they were around the same price as their competitor's and they sponsored the sharks. A combo VCR/DVD and a dishwasher. The dishwasher is ok, but not as good as the 12 year old Dishlex I had previously, and the combo VCR/DVD is going out with the next council clean-up. I don't rate their products on those 2 experiences. Won't buy again. Puma on the other hand, now that's good gear.

Yep, I'm thinking the January 2006 sales will be the time to pick one up, the good ones should be down below $500 by then.

I considered buying an LG DVD Recorder but was put off.
Dont shoot the messenger and I have no personal experience of them but they are supposed to have a higher return rate and not as easy to use/set up/feature packed as other brands.(a few people have mentioned this that I've asked).
They've also said the return rates on combined DVD recorders/VCR's are higher than DVD recorders(any brand).Makes sense considering more can go wrong with them.
On the plus side for LG they are normally cheaper.
The Foxtel IQ isnt as bad a deal as you first think.
I know you dont own the box(which sucks if you disconnect from Fox)but you'd have to think Foxtel would update software and equiptment for you so you'd have no need to update to newer products.
Repair/warranty on the box shouldn't be a worry either.
Still I'd prefer a PVR or DVD Recorder.(wish I could get one for under $500 with a digital tuner).

Basically I popped a CD in and RealPlayer started up, then froze.
I couldn't close any apps down, couldn't Ctrl/Alt/Del, couldn't do anything.

So I held the power switch down till it turned off. Since then it keeps coming up with an error along the lines of the file system32/config/system is missing or corrupt.

Tried a recovery but nothing doing.
Just took it back to where I bought it and they're trying to save the directory I need before wiping everythying.

Heap of crap. Last time I buy LG.

I purchased $22000 usd worth of LG *********** for a customer Interstate. Due to a quality issue the product has been returned. I am having a hell of a time getting suitable replacements for them from HO in Korea.

Beat that.

DJDL, and I think CJS who saw the same thing. Before you despair try the advice at the following Microsoft site - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314477.

HAL.DLL is the Hardware Abstraction Layer - that is, the "picture" of the computer hardware that Windows builds for itself when it boots. It can become corrupt from hardware failure but that isn't always the case. It may be possible to recover without reinstalling Windows. If it isn't in your case I strongly suspect you have a bodgy hard drive and should have that replaced.

I work in sales of brown goods, white goods etc....

LG is not too bad for its price... however due to its very smart marketing campaigns alot of dribblers come into the shop thinking its the best product in the market. It is amusing that people actually choose LG over the likes of Toshiba regardless of price.

The only 2 brands i really find worth buying are:

Toshiba and Panasonic

Sony = Overpriced JUNK

Hopefully Sharks get sponsered by Carlton Draught...so they can finally stop serving VB at home games...yuck.

Haha I'm a sales rep to the industry(15 years) and worked for a major electrical retailer for 10 years and I have a house full of LG and swear by it. You must work for Retravision as they are the only retailer unable to get it and knock the product continuelly. I say stick with us LG.
