What about the rest of the NZ players in the NRL? And the NZ born Tongans and Samoans, don't cherry pick ;)

Predominantly from Auckland. And it's not cherry picking, Have another listen to the podcast. The reason he gave, and it was the ONLY reason he gave, that the game was in your words "growing and thriving in NZ" was that there were no Warriors in the Kiwis World Cup squad.

So you want me to take your opinion instead of a sports reporter?

I don't care what you do, but firstly I have provided stats, player numbers club numbers, he provided "feelings" and secondly he is not a "sports reporter" he is a fan running a fan site. He doesn't make a living reporting on sports, he runs it from a garage with a mate, and he doesn't have media accreditation, even this site haas media accreditation.
You can believe what the hell you want, just know that believing in someone's "feelings" rather than actual empirical evidence, doesn't make you very smart.

This guy gets it, he can see the writing on the wall

Again showing a fan site? Why not an ACTUAL news site? And guess what, just like this thread an Australian who got things wrong. He didn't notice where those players were born and raised, he didn't mention clubs in those countries and even even got the Salary Cap for Super Rugby wrong by claiming it is about $10million. That's only for Australia.

Why can you guys only show fan sites as "evidence"? It's either a giant conspiracy to hide what's happening, or using Occam's razor, you guys are just wrong.

The NRL has just gone from thriving , to going gangbusters!
First round of the already most watched code in the Pacific is up 18% !
The Dolphins have shown that in a strong market with an existing successful club there's a massive market for spectators who weren't captured by the existing team!!
The Dolphins outrated the Broncos!

Take that information and look at NZ and the Warriors. How much of NZ feel unrepresented by the Warriors?
The Warriors who during their formation were simply Auckland. It would be something crazy like 60 to 70% of kiwis haven't adopted the Warriors.

A second NZ team would pick up a MASSIVE following! They would be massive!

Based on what? The declining participation figure? the declining attendances? the declining tv numbers? The Warriors "region" represents 40% of the countries population, and they aren't even "massive" there.
You think only 60 to 70% haven't "adopted" the Warriors??? try 97- 98%. There average attendances are less than 1% of the Auckland Metro area, there average viewership is less than 3% of NZ.

And somehow despite this you believe a new NRL club will do better, in a much smaller market, with a much smaller League presence. f**k you funny... delusional, but funny.

Australian Rugby is on deaths door!
Edie Jones isn't the saviour... why?
Just look at this: missed out on Suali and now looking at Murray..
Murray- in frame for origin- kangaroos- and a premiership with his much loved South Sydney club- contracted on good money for the next 3 years who hasn't played Union for years..

This is what Jones is wasting his time on!
And potential a chunk of Aus Unions money to snub Australia Rugby forwards and turn anyone who follows Souths against the Wallabies.

What a peanut.

It's says 2025.
And that's still possible. Dispite you and other posters claiming 15 months wasn't enough time to assemble and competitive squad the Dolphins just knocked over a genuine contender.
An announcement in June with a 3 month bidding process put it on track for 2025.
But hey it was only Vlandys and Abdo .. who are they anyway.
15 months is not enough IMO, especially for a team in an geniune expansion market starting from scratch.

I think you will need 2 to 3 seasons lead up.

What your latest fan made video omits is that a large number of PI players (that play for the island test teams) play in the NH leagues or Japan, so just discussing Super squads salary caps is completely redundant.

He's also conflating NZ and Oz born PIs with those on the islands in some parts of the video and then separating them in other parts to suit his purposes.

There's very little facts and the ones that are there are often cherry picked anyway. He doesn't state how many PI born and bred players are in either rugby or the NRL, this is actually the most important figure if he's making grandiose claims that league is taking over the islands.

He also made the odd claim that top tier international rugby isn't very competitive when it's actually the most competitive it's been in years. But, the PI teams in rugby are just too small, even wth the large number of NZers and Australians who play for them, to be competitive with the big teams all the time. As much as the video maker wants to romanticise it the best PI descent players in rugby aren't going to wholesale leave NZ or even the Wallabies, they don't chose the ABs because they get paid more, they chose the ABs because they're NZers wanting to play for the NZ.

If you count all the players and staff at the ground which was all 12 clubs, then all thier family and friends who probably got free tickets. After you subtract that...
How many were people who paid to go ?
Couple of hundred?
Hmm playing in that competition week to week or playing in the nrl

if your a talented kiwi the choice is becoming clearer all the time

Think he was talking about in Australia which granted is less relevant to this thread but overall is a valid point.
The NRL is a behemoth compared to super rugby & is only getting bigger
If I was a rugby fan from anywhere in Australasia ... I'd be understandably concerned.

The other thing to note about super rugby's magic weekend in Melbourne is that I have little doubt 80% of the attendees were kiwis living in Melb
meaning the return for the Vic Govt would have been .....................zip
infact they'd of done their arse over the last 2 years from hosting this rubbish

Geez Gobful, you could have at least changed your posting style to hide a second account.
Even just changing you IP address would have helped.
