haha he also said theyd be admitted in 2024, best get their skates on!
It's says 2025.
And that's still possible. Dispite you and other posters claiming 15 months wasn't enough time to assemble and competitive squad the Dolphins just knocked over a genuine contender.
An announcement in June with a 3 month bidding process put it on track for 2025.
But hey it was only Vlandys and Abdo .. who are they anyway.

Nobody knows what is going to happen. You have people claiming that another NZ side, or a Perth side or another Brisbane side will happen. All of these could and in people’s opinions should happen but I can’t see how anybody, unless you know V’Landys and the other commissioners personally, knows what will happen.

Eh?

McKewen reports Abdo and ARLC chair Peter V’landys are “quietly putting the building blocks in place in NZ to grow audiences and fans.”
He also claims the NRL is “almost certain” to add an 18th team to the competition in 2024 — and Wellington or Christchurch “remain favourites.”

Meaning that's when they green light it.

The NRL has previously indicated that an 18th team could be added to the competition as early as 2025.

The nrl can add a team when it wants

it can fund it out of profits for a few years. It could even get an extra 20 million pa extra under the current tv deals

2025 is certainly a chance

One or two players being born means f**k all. How many of those players are raised in Aussie and go through their systems? Selective stats mean nothing.

Nelson Asofa-Solomona, Born Wellington
Jesse Bromwich, Born Auckland
Kenneath Bromwich, Born Auckland
Dylan Brown, Born Auckland
James Fisher-Harris, Born Northland
Kieran Foran, Born Auckland
Peta Hiku, Born Gisborne
Jahrome Hughes, Born Wellington
Sebastian Kris, Born Brisbane
Moses Leota, Born Auckland
Isaac Liu, Born Auckland
Joseph Manu, Born Hamilton
Jeremy Marshall-King, Born Northland
Ronaldo Mulitalo, Born Auckland
Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Born Auckland
Briton Nikora, Born Tauranga
Marata Niukore, Born Auckland
Isaiah Papali'i, Born Auckland
Jordan Rapana, Born Wellington
Brandon Smith, Born Auckland
Scott Sorensen, Born Sydney
Joseph Tapine, Born Wellington
Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Born Rotorua
Dallin Watene-Zelezniak. Born Hamilton

This list shows again you take a pod cast as proof instead of actually doing real research. Of the 24 players selected for the World Cup the breakdown shows Auckland and its surrounds make up well over half the team, and no South Islanders.

Northland 2
Auckland 11
Waikato\Mid 5
Wellington 4
Australia 2
The entire South Island 0
What about the rest of the NZ players in the NRL? And the NZ born Tongans and Samoans, don't cherry pick ;)

Of course you will, because it suits your narrative and doesn't require any evidence. It's something you share witht the other idiots in this thread, disliking and ignoring actual factual evidence.
So you want me to take your opinion instead of a sports reporter?

This guy gets it, he can see the writing on the wall
RL 'owning' the pacific wouldn't make NRL clubs in the PI's or in NZ more, or less, feasible, and would have little to no impact on RU's commercial prospects internationally.

I'm not trying to have a go at anybody, but in the grand scheme of things the Oceania region is largely a backwater in international terms in this regard. If anything RL taking over would make it cheaper for RU, as RL and the NRL would be the one that takes on the financial burden of developing all the talent in the PI's, which they could then simply poach.

Do you really think WR gives two shits if tiny nations in the PI's turn to RL, when they've got money to print in Europe, RSA, etc, and have really strong growth in a bunch of other major markets in Asia and South America?

This guy's only concern is the impact it might have on RU in NZ, and frankly, from the perspective of RU who really cares. There're multiple teams, from multiple larger nations, all lined up to take the All Blacks spot as soon as they fall down the international rankings, and if anything WR would see it as a benefit if a bigger nation was the dominant side in RU.
