New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

You know the Blues played at Eden Park a few weeks back before empty stands.. where was everyone? Mount smart watching the Warriors.

Another NZ team... Another blow to Super rugby in new Zealand and new Zealand rugby as a whole.

But that's not the only threat, France and Japan poaching the best players.

The All blacks are a great brand but all the framework underneath them is getting cut down considerably.

This WC is very telling and if the All blacks brand takes direct hits to their reputation.. it'll look even more bleak.

You still cling to the fiction that Super Rugby has much of an impact on NZ Rugby. That where you entire thread is fundamentally flawed.

Super Rugby is in direct competition with the NRL, that’s what really matters. No Super rugby, no professional Rugby to rival the NRL each week. Kiwis watching NRL 😎

Except they aren't and never have. The NRL outside of the warriors averages barely 50K... even when Super Rugby is finished... And even IF Super Rugby ceased in its current form, a replacement would be put in and would be watched by NZers. History has shown all of this to be true.

And Super Rugby isn't competition to the NRL in NZ. Even when Super Rugby is over for the year the viewership never increased.

That's when it started, there are about four years worth of Ratings in there. The last time that Sky publically allowed figures of any sort to be released. If you can find any newer great, but that thread shows the total lack of movement in growth in view numbers for NRL games.

Seriously dude, we've been over this in the last two weeks. If there's no Super Rugby the NZR will just run an extended NPC. As noted earlier too the current NPC has more viewership (11 - 13 week comp) than the NRL does over it's whole season.
